Rodenbach combines a natural swimming lake with cultural trails, local history, historic boundary stones and a view from the vineyard in Oberrodenbach. For your stay, you can focus on nature, local history or the landscape.

Swimming Lake and Planning Your Visit

The Rodenbach swimming lake is a natural lake with a swimming area of approximately 30,000 m². It is divided into a non-swimmer area and a swimmer area. On 28 April 2026, the municipality announced that the bathing facility would not open. Check its status before planning a visit.

Cultural Trails and Local History

You can hike the Rodenbach cultural trail as two loops or as one large circuit. It leads around and through Rodenbach. A historic walking tour explores the town center, whose buildings mostly date from the 18th century. The two walking options therefore differ: the cultural trail offers two loops or one large circuit, while the walking tour focuses on the town center.

The Rodenbach Local History Museum is in the Niederrodenbach district at Kirchstraße 9. It is housed in a half-timbered building dating from 1717. The permanent exhibitions explore aspects of the village’s rural life in the past. On display are agricultural, craft and household implements. The year 1717 gives the museum building a specific construction date, whereas the buildings in the town center mostly date from the 18th century.

Another focus on local history is provided by the North and South Boundary Stone Routes. The Rodenbach Historical Society developed both routes to visit historic boundary stones. The subjects range from rural life and local architecture to historic boundary markers.

Views and Forest Art

From the vineyard in Oberrodenbach, the view stretches to the Frankfurt skyline and the Feldberg in the Taunus. The vista thus encompasses both a city skyline and a named peak in the Taunus. It offers a focus on the landscape alongside the trails and historical themes in the town.

Rodenbach is also home to Faxe Müller’s ephemeral forest artwork “Wabernde Welle” (Undulating Wave), in the wider travel destination of Main-Kinzig-Kreis. It adds an artwork in the forest to the historical themes.

Regional Setting: Main-Kinzig-Kreis

In the wider travel destination of Main-Kinzig-Kreis, the Kinzig rises in the northeast of the district near Sinntal-Sterbfritz and flows into the Main at Hanau. Another regional landscape feature is the orchard meadow area from Bergen-Enkheim to Maintal-Hochstadt, which covers around 320 hectares. Some of the sunny slopes are protected nature areas. In spring, flowering trees and colorful meadows invite visitors to enjoy walks and excursions. These regional connections complement Rodenbach’s local attractions without shifting the focus from the town to the district as a whole. The Spessartbogen premium hiking trail passes through Biebergemünd.
