Flörsbachtal is located in the Spessart Nature Park. Several different options are available to help you plan your trip: the “Flörsbach – Flörsbachtal 3” cultural trail, with historical stops; the “Lohrhaupter Widdehuh” Spessartspur hiking route; a connected cycling network; and Kneipp facilities that are open seasonally. The “Spessarträuber” in Lohrhaupten also offer special experiences. If you are looking for hotels in Flörsbachtal, your interests can guide your planning: culture, hiking, cycling or a group activity can each lead to a different itinerary.

Cultural Trail and Historical Stops

The “Flörsbach – Flörsbachtal 3” cultural trail starts at the fountain on Hauptstraße in Flörsbach and leads from there into a forest with a large number of oak trees. Along the way, it passes a replica of the historic “Dreimärker” boundary stone and leads to the Judenbörnchen. This fountain was used by Jewish cattle traders in the Spessart for their livestock. The boundary stone and fountain therefore represent different historical themes along the route: a boundary marker and the use of the fountain by cattle traders. The church in Lohrhaupten has medieval frescoes and is 50 metres from the route. A separate cultural attraction in the wider Main-Kinzig district is the Gelnhausen Museum: it is housed in the former Augustaschule on Obermarkt and is designed as a hands-on family museum. During guided tours, workshops, rallies and other educational activities, children and adults can experience history by touching, listening, smelling, taking part and trying things out; the programme may change.

Hiking and Cycling

The 6.9-kilometre “Lohrhaupter Widdehuh” Spessartspur route is a circular hike that returns to Lohrhaupten. It is therefore a clearly defined hiking option. Flörsbachtal’s cycling network connects to the network of the neighbouring Bavarian municipality of Frammersbach and, from there, to long-distance cycling routes throughout the Main Valley. The comparison is between a named circular hike and a cycling connection that links via Frammersbach to a larger network.

Summer Activities and Special Experiences

There are Kneipp facilities in Flörsbach, Kempfenbrunn and Lohrhaupten, and they can only be used during the summer months. If Kneipp treatments are part of your plans, take this seasonal limitation into account when planning your trip. The “Spessarträuber” of the Lohrhaupten local history and tourism association offer horse-drawn carriage and covered wagon rides on request for up to 15 people, lasting up to three hours. They also offer a different kind of activity: a staged robbery in which hikers are ambushed, taken prisoner and served 36-percent schnapps.

Planning Your Trip When Looking for a Hotel

Different planning considerations may influence your choice. The Kneipp facilities are only available in summer; for the ride, the maximum group size of 15 and duration of up to three hours set the parameters for the activity. For hikers, the 6.9-kilometre circular route is a specific option.
