Jakobshagen offers several points of interest for a stay. The village church and farmstead reflect local and architectural history; the pottery farm showcases its own distinctive ceramic designs, while the Garrocha riding programme teaches movement sequences. When planning your trip, you can distinguish between these themes by their character: historic buildings, decorative ceramics, or a riding programme with learning and practice activities.

Getting oriented and local history

Jakobshagen lies eight kilometres south of Boitzenburg on state road 217 towards Templin. The village was first mentioned in a document in 1375. This year refers to the first written mention; the construction and furnishing dates of the village church belong to a different historical period.

Village church and farmstead

Jakobshagen village church, at Herzfelder Straße 1, is listed in the monument protection register of the State of Brandenburg with the register status dated 1 January 2026 under ID number 09130515. Its core is a 15th-century fieldstone building; the church was extensively remodelled in 1887. It contains an altarpiece assembled from two Gothic carved altarpieces that originally date from the 15th century. The fieldstone building describes the material used for the core; the altarpiece, by contrast, is a furnishing element assembled from two altarpieces. When comparing the dates, their historical roles matter: 1375 refers to the first mention of the village, the 15th century to the fieldstone core and the origin of the altarpieces, and 1887 to the remodelling.

The farmstead at Lindenstraße 29–30 offers a different architectural perspective. It is listed in the same register under ID number 09130516 and consists of a dwelling house, a barn and a large-cattle stable. Unlike the church, whose construction and furnishing history takes centre stage, this ensemble is defined by three distinct building sections. The dwelling house is the residential part; the barn and large-cattle stable are the farm buildings. This makes it possible to distinguish the two monuments by their architectural composition.

Pottery farm and ceramics

The Jakobshagen pottery farm invites you to browse, admire and buy pottery. Sylvia Kort creates ceramics featuring Uckermark landscapes, including pollarded willows, as well as delicate figures with iridescent wings. The motifs offer a clear comparison: on the one hand, landscape themes; on the other, finely detailed figures.

As a group of friends, an organised group or a coach party, you can watch the ceramic artist at work and get an introduction to the basics of pottery. This insight complements browsing and buying pottery with a look at how it is made.

Garrocha riding programme

The Garrocha riding programme at the Jakobshagen horse farm teaches basic and advanced movement sequences and offers ideas for practising independently. Basic and advanced sequences describe the programme's content; the practice suggestions also encourage independent practice. Be sure to book the Garrocha riding programme in advance.
