Bad Belzig: Castle, Thermal Baths and Hiking Trails
Accommodation in Bad Belzig
Bad Belzig is located in the Hoher Fläming Nature Park and offers several ways to spend your stay: trails through the countryside and historic town center, history at Eisenhardt Castle, and facilities at the SteinTherme. You can also enjoy regional cuisine at the Burgwirtschaft restaurant. This lets you plan your trip around whether you mainly want to hike, explore the town’s history, or include bathing and sauna facilities.
Hiking between countryside and the old town
The panoramic hiking trail leads to Eisenhardt Castle, perched on a hill spur above the historic old town. The route follows the Belziger Bach stream and passes through the Belziger Berge hills, forests, flowering meadows and open countryside. The historic town center, with its winding lanes, is also part of the route. This brings together natural and town scenery along a single trail.
Hiking trails of different lengths
There is a dense network of hiking trails around Bad Belzig, Eisenhardt Castle and the SteinTherme. The panoramic hiking trail is 17.7 kilometers long; the nature discovery trail is just under two kilometers and runs along the wet meadows at the foot of Eisenhardt Castle. The different trail lengths make it easier to choose between a shorter nature route and a longer hike.
The nature discovery trail has twelve stations. Along the way, you can make stones ring, observe dragonflies, feel plants and open large acorns, among other activities. The content at the stations may change over time. Bad Belzig also has nine terrain therapy trails, which pass sights along the way. They are marked “TK” on the signs. Since conditions on the panoramic hiking trail may change, it is a good idea to check them before setting out.
Eisenhardt Castle and local history
The local history museum at Eisenhardt Castle explores three millennia of local history. In the “Hagelberg Room,” it displays a large tin-figure diorama depicting the 1813 Battle of Hagelberg. St. Mary’s Town Church offers a different historical perspective: its core is Romanesque, and it was built in the second half of the 13th century. Together, these subjects offer different perspectives on local history—from its long development and a specific historical event to the architectural history of the church.
SteinTherme and regional cuisine
The SteinTherme offers a Bathing World, a Sauna World, and wellness and beauty services. Bathing and sauna experiences complement Bad Belzig’s options for hiking and cultural interests. Since summer 2024, the Burgwirtschaft restaurant at Eisenhardt Castle has been serving regional specialties. Before your trip, check whether the restaurant is currently open.
Bad Belzig in the wider region

The 148-kilometer Castle Trail passes through the entire Hoher Fläming Nature Park and connects four castles in the region. Its route also passes through Bad Belzig.
