Ferchesar lies by the lake and is shaped by its forest and village church; Stechow is right on the Havelland Cycle Route. This makes nature, cycling and culture a good starting point when choosing where to stay.

Lake, Forest and Routes in Ferchesar

Ferchesar lies at the eastern end of Lake Hohennauener-Ferchesarer; the village is within a protected landscape area. A large forest stretches north and west of the village. Numerous cycling, hiking and riding trails pass through Ferchesar and its woodland. This allows you to explore the surrounding area on foot, by bike or on horseback. For a specific outing, we recommend checking the current local routes.

The Village Church and Its History

Ferchesar Village Church was rebuilt as a half-timbered church between 1735 and 1737. The tower is Neo-Baroque and dates from 1906. The interior contains two other elements that can be dated: a carved altar from the late 15th century and a pulpit altar donated in 1788. In chronological terms, the carved altar dates back the furthest; the rebuilding, pulpit altar and tower mark later points in time. Church tours are available by appointment. Arrange a time before your visit.

Swimming, Boat Moorings and Dining

The Ferchesar Marina on Lake Hohennauener-Ferchesarer has 40 boat moorings. As capacity may change, check current availability if you need a berth. Buntspecht campsite is right by the lake and offers access for swimming. Swimming and fishing are also possible at Lake Lochow; use may be subject to local conditions. The Havelland Cycle Route runs through Stechow. A restaurant in Stechow serves home-style cooking, making it a good place to take a break. The restaurant's Kulturscheune (culture barn) regularly hosts events; check current dates before planning a visit.
