Historic Buildings in Dallgow-Döberitz

Dallgow Village Church dates back to the 14th century and is a rectangular, late Gothic fieldstone building. Its masonry is made of large fieldstones. Inside, there is an altar with angels, a wooden pulpit and a painted organ gallery.

The water tower on Wilhelmstraße is a protected historic monument. It was built of brick using solid construction methods at the end of the 19th century and consists of a round shaft and a polygonal upper storey. The church is characterised by its late Gothic form and fieldstone masonry; the water tower is defined by its brick construction and the combination of its two structural sections.

The White Madonna, also known as the Mourning Madonna, stands on the B5 in Dallgow-Döberitz. The memorial dates from 1917 and commemorates the prisoners who died in a prisoner-of-war camp. The sculpture was probably created by a French prisoner of war.

Hiking and Nature

Schwanengraben is an extensive green space in the town of Dallgow-Döberitz. A hike through Döberitzer Heide begins and ends at Dallgow-Döberitz station; the route runs from the station along Schwanengraben. On the circular hike through the heath, the obelisk at kilometre 3.4 is a waypoint.

A local access restriction is important when planning this hike: because of the risk from unexploded ordnance, visitors may still enter the section of the former Döberitzer Heide military training area that is open to the public only on marked paths. If you are hiking there, stay on these paths.

Cycling Routes in the Town and the Wider Havelland Destination

Dallgow-Döberitz is connected to the Havelland cycling routes and the long-distance E1 cycle route. In the wider Havelland destination, you can use the cycle route network signposting to plan your own routes. The Havelland Cycle Route runs through the Havelländisches Luch via Nauen, Ribbeck and Rathenow to Westhavelland Nature and Star Park. It is mostly paved, flat and pleasant to ride.

Another natural attraction in the wider Havelland destination is Lake Gülper. On its southern shore, a roughly 1.5-kilometre-long nature trail with illustrated information boards invites visitors to watch birds. During spring and autumn migration, up to 100,000 geese and hundreds of cranes gather there, along with numerous waders, ducks and great egrets. The nature trail provides a designated route, while the large gatherings of birds are specifically associated with migration periods.
