Senzig brings together shoreline spots, natural areas and local history. When planning your visit, it helps to distinguish between individual shoreline points and a longer hike: you can focus on specific access points or make the marked circular trail around Lake Zeesen the centrepiece of your visit.

Shoreline access and nature in Senzig

At the end of Akazienallee, there is a small access point to the shore; on Bergstraße, there is an access point to Lake Zeesen. The sunbathing lawn at the end of Nixenweg offers both sunny and shaded spots. Conditions may vary by season.

Senziger Luch and Krebssee are also part of the Tiergarten Special Area of Conservation (SAC). Senziger Luch is a complex of dry and wet meadows that were once used with varying intensity. The European bitterling, Eurasian otter and noctule bat are listed as protected species in the SAC. Senzig thus brings together shoreline destinations and a protected landscape; the species names also give an idea of the protected animals listed for the area.

Hiking trail, pier and local history

The 12-kilometre circular trail around Lake Zeesen can be started in Senzig. It is marked with a yellow dot on a white background, passes the Senziger Luch nature reserve and offers several places to swim. This makes it possible to combine a longer hike with the lake and nature; the shoreline access points in Senzig, by contrast, are individual destinations.

Senzig Pier is an industrial monument. From the pier, you can enjoy a wide view of Lake Krüpelsee and the opposite shore. The extract from the Brandenburg register of monuments dated 1 January 2026 lists the pier under monument number 09141367. Local history also has several defining themes: agriculture, brickmaking and shipping shaped Senzig’s development.

Culture and nature in Königs Wusterhausen

In the wider destination of Königs Wusterhausen, the palace and museums offer their own historical themes. Königs Wusterhausen Palace served as the seat of government for Frederick William I and was a meeting place for the legendary Tobacco Parliament. The Dahmeland Museum has a permanent exhibition on the history of the Dahmeland region and the town of Königs Wusterhausen, complemented by changing special exhibitions. Three museums in Königs Wusterhausen are within walking distance of the station and tell the town’s history from different perspectives.

The Tiergarten in Königs Wusterhausen also has its own connection to nature and history: today it is a diverse mixed deciduous forest and nature reserve; it was established in 1725 as a game enclosure for the Soldier King. The 7.5-kilometre Tiergarten circular trail starts and/or ends at Königs Wusterhausen station or at the hiking car parks at the Tiergarten. It runs along quiet stretches of shore at the Staabe and Lake Krimnicksee. Ten wooden sculptures line the trail and bring aspects of local history to life. By the orchard are the stone circle “The Twelve Wise Ones”, a barefoot path, a balance beam and a rest area. Other sights along the circular trail include Husareneck and Spukbrücke. The trail can be reached via Königs Wusterhausen station, which is served by RE and RB regional trains as well as the S-Bahn.

The lake landscape around Königs Wusterhausen offers lidos, bathing spots, boathouses, moorings and fishing spots in the town centre and almost all districts. In Königs Wusterhausen, you can also go paddling, rowing, sailing, water-skiing and pedal boating. The Herr Fabian chatbot was developed for families and offers entertainment for a half-day trip to Königs Wusterhausen.
