Accommodation in Kleinwinklarn
Local travel highlights in Kleinwinklarn include the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Upper Palatinate Lake Trail, and fishing waters on the Stettnerbach and Rötzerbach streams. For a broader perspective on culture and trails, it is also worth exploring the wider destination of Neunburg vorm Wald.
Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Kleinwinklarn was built in 1905. Its apse contains a life-size statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, created in 1946 by Sudeten German sculptor Karl Mauermann. To the left of the chancel is a sculpture of Saint Joseph, and to the right, a Madonna. Instead of a tower, the church has a roof turret. The dates mark two distinct points in time: the church was built in 1905, and the Sacred Heart statue dates from 1946. This makes it possible to distinguish the building’s history from the date of this piece of its furnishings.
Hiking trails connected with Kleinwinklarn
The Upper Palatinate Lake Trail follows the Atzenbach directly to Kleinwinklarn, where places to stop for refreshments are available. From there, the trail continues through the forest toward Stetten and GĂĽtenland, and along the southern shore of Lake Eixendorf to the Wutzschleife. The three-day Neunburg Goldsteig Loop passes Kleinwinklarn on its way toward GĂĽtenland. The two trail connections are therefore clearly distinct: the Lake Trail leads directly into the village, while the Goldsteig Loop is described as a three-day tour that passes Kleinwinklarn on the way toward GĂĽtenland.
Fishing waters and village community center
The fishing stretch on the Stettnerbach runs from the Kleinwinklarn junction to the Stettnermühle. The fishing stretch on the Rötzerbach extends upstream from the Dorfmühle to the Kleinwinklarn junction, where the Stettnerbach begins. The junction is therefore the shared reference point: it marks the end of the specified Rötzerbach stretch and the beginning of the Stettnerbach stretch.
For events, the sponsoring association rents out the premises of the Kleinwinklarn village community center to anyone interested or makes them available for that purpose.
Neunburg vorm Wald: Museum and trails
In the wider destination of Neunburg vorm Wald, the Schwarzachtal Local History Museum has been housed in the historic rooms of the former town palace since 1980. In the 15th century, the palace was a residence of the Wittelsbach Prince-Electors of the Palatinate. With a total exhibition area of 1,000 square meters, the museum introduces visitors to the history and culture of the town of Neunburg vorm Wald and the Schwarzachtal in 18 rooms and a lapidarium. Its historical scope ranges from the earliest times to the postwar period. Neunburg vorm Wald thus offers its own cultural and historical focus alongside the building history of the church in Kleinwinklarn.
The GOLDSTEIG premium hiking trail runs directly through Neunburg vorm Wald. A hiking trail circles the entire Lake Eixendorf, and a cycle path runs along its southern shore. The Neunburg Yacht Club offers sailing on the lake. These features broaden the picture of the wider destination without conflating local connections to Kleinwinklarn with the attractions in Neunburg vorm Wald.
