Leutershausen offers a variety of ways to plan your stay around your own interests: city tours through medieval Leutershausen, puzzle activities for children, recurring festival traditions and cycling routes of varying lengths and with different focuses. The AltmĂĽhlbad is also among the local leisure activities. The activities you want to enjoy and their dates are the main factors to consider when making your choice.

City History and Events

On city tours, guides take visitors through medieval Leutershausen. They share interesting facts about the city’s history and fitting anecdotes. If you would like to plan a tour, check the dates and booking conditions before your trip.

A city rally with puzzles is available for children aged 8 and up at the town hall, museum or cultural center. The materials and any applicable pricing arrangements may change, so check the latest information in advance. The P.E.P. 01 has a different focus: this easy Pioneer Adventure Trail in Leutershausen includes 15 stations.

The year includes several festivals. The traditional “Christkindlesrunterläuten” takes place every year on December 24 from the Upper Tower. The Leutershausen Old Town Festival is held every year on the last weekend in July. Its program includes food and live music, ranging from blues, rock, pop and oldies to rock ’n’ roll, country music and brass band music. Kirchweih festivals are also traditionally celebrated in Leutershausen and the districts of Brunst, Frommetsfelden, Jochsberg, Neunkirchen and Wiedersbach, with fairground activities, Franconian specialties, music and other customs. Check the dates and programs for the relevant year.

Cycling Routes and the AltmĂĽhlbad

The Ansbach Carp Cycling Route passes through Leutershausen’s chains of ponds, crosses the watershed toward Ansbach and follows the Rezat to just before Windsbach. For a shorter loop, “Leutershausen – Colmberg – the Short Route” is another option. It is suitable for cycling with children, runs mostly on cycle paths and farm tracks, and has only short sections on roads. Check the signage and surfaces locally.

A different scale is the 100-kilometer “Wieseth and Rezat” cycling tour, which is recommended for e-bike riders and ambitious cyclists. The explicitly short loop and this longer tour therefore offer different time and fitness requirements; the details for one should not be assumed to apply to the other.

More Cultural Highlights in the Wider Ansbach Travel Destination

Within the wider Ansbach travel destination, the Literaturweg Franken adds a literary focus to the local themes. This 2.2-kilometer, barrier-free circular trail runs around the fortifications of Wolframs-Eschenbach. Its 15 information boards introduce authors from the Middle Ages to the present day who have explored Franconia in their works.

In Königshofen, the “wiegen & messen” museum displays more than 4,000 exhibits. These include historic scales and their associated weights, cubits, folding rulers and vessels used to measure grain. Another historical theme is explored by the Löhe and History Trail in Neuendettelsau: it leads back to the 19th century, when Pastor Wilhelm Löhe worked in Neuendettelsau. Stops are located in Neuendettelsau and at the churches in Reuth and Wernsbach; each stop has an information board. Along the trail, visitors can tour the Löhe-Zeit-Museum and the Mission One World exhibition.
