Luhe-Wildenau: Rivers and attractions at Koppelberg

Near Unterwildenau in the municipality of Luhe-Wildenau, the Haidenaab and Waldnaab join to form the Naab. This connection to the river is anchored in a specific place: the confluence near Unterwildenau. As a local focal point, the river geography can be considered alongside the attractions at Koppelberg and the hiking route within the municipality.

Koppelberg has a forest nature trail, as well as the pilgrimage church of St. Nicholas. The two names highlight different aspects: the forest is the main theme of the nature trail, while the pilgrimage church is a focal point for a church visit. When planning, you can therefore decide whether you are more interested in nature or in a pilgrimage church. Before visiting the nature trail, check the current access conditions.

One hiking option is the Luhe-Wildenau circular trail. It is around 14 kilometres long, marked with a red circle and runs through the western part of the municipality, on the right bank of the Naab. The loop can be shortened at any time. This means you can take both the approximate total distance and the option of a shorter route into account when choosing your route. Check the markings on site before relying on the signposting.

For golf enthusiasts, the Schwanhof Golf Course is another focal point. It offers playing and training opportunities for both beginners and ambitious golfers. The course therefore caters to two different experience levels; when planning, you can decide whether playing or training better suits your travel plans. Before travelling, check the current visitor arrangements.

In the wider Neustadt An Der Waldnaab destination

The Neustadt An Der Waldnaab destination provides a distinct, wider context. There, the Bockl follows a historic railway line for 52 kilometres from Neustadt an der Waldnaab to Eslarn. The route can be used on foot, by bike or on inline skates; it is mostly paved and free of traffic. Gradients rarely exceed three per cent. Compared with the approximately 14-kilometre circular trail in Luhe-Wildenau, the Bockl is considerably longer and designed for several ways of getting around, while the local loop can be shortened at any time.
