Discover Eslarn: Stückberg, wildlife park and Atzmannsee
Accommodation in Eslarn
Eslarn offers a range of options for a stay: hikes on Stückberg, nature experiences at the wildlife park and leisure activities at Atzmannsee. If you are looking for a hotel in Eslarn, choosing a focus for your trip can help you plan. The destinations differ in their specific offerings and seasonal options.
Views and nature on Stückberg
Stückberg in Eslarn is 808 metres high and has a 32-metre observation tower. You can hike to the summit via circular trail 24 and climb the tower’s 144 steps. Enjoy the view from the outdoor gallery. The route combines a hike with a clearly defined destination on the mountain.
The wildlife park on Stückberg has a spacious woodland playground with seating. Quiz boards about forests, water and animals are placed around the enclosure at Eslarn Wildlife Park. The park also features an insect hotel, a tree telephone, a wooden sound game and a barefoot path. An information pavilion and a nature navigation station stand at the entrance to the playground and wildlife enclosure. The municipal wildlife enclosure in the Stückberg leisure area offers a nature experience. Free parking is available at Eslarn Wildlife Park; if you are planning your arrival around this, check the local information in advance.
Atzmannsee: shoreline, tennis and winter activities
The shore at Atzmannsee slopes gently and is suitable for children to splash around in. The Atzmannsee leisure area also has four sand tennis courts. If you would like to play tennis, check availability locally. In winter, the facilities offer ice skating and curling. These two activities are seasonal; check the current local conditions when planning your visit.
Bird park and hiking trails
The bird park in Bürgermeister-Karl-Roth-Kurpark in Eslarn is home to around 200 native and 50 exotic bird species in nine large aviaries. These figures are approximate and may change. The park offers a different focus from the trails on Stückberg: here, the emphasis is on bird species and their aviaries, while there it is on the summit and the views.
The hiking trails also offer different highlights. Bruckhof circular trail No. 20 crosses the Loisbach and passes Roßtränkmühle on its way to the “Atzmann” trail junction. There it meets the Wallenstein-Tilly-Weg, the Glassgrinder’s Trail and the access route to the Goldsteig. Before setting out, it is advisable to check the trail markers locally. By comparison, circular trail 24 leads to the summit of Stückberg and its observation tower; the Bruckhof circular trail’s named landmarks are the stream, mill and trail junction.
