For a stay in Puchheim, trails by water and habitats, cycling connections, art and recurring events can shape your travel plans. For some activities, it is worth checking the latest dates or connections before making plans.
Nature trails, water and habitats
The 3.5-kilometre Water Life Trail runs along Kreutweg in Puchheim-Ort. Its nine stations focus on the local water supply and the journey of water. The Puchheim Urban Nature Trail has a different thematic focus: established in 2019, it has four stations devoted to endangered habitats and how they can be preserved or created anew. The Urban Nature Trail also has an area where people of all ages can play boules.
The wild bee garden on Alte Bahnhofstraße also focuses on habitats. It was inaugurated in 2021. To protect wild bees, a nutrient-poor meadow and a species-rich flowering meadow were sown there; other features include a herb spiral, a sand habitat, a wild bee nesting aid and a deadwood area. At the Puchheim Tree Trail, you can use your smartphone to access more information about the trees via a QR code displayed there.
In Puchheim-Ort, the Kneipp facility on Alte Bahnhofstraße, level with the Feuerwehrwiese, invites you to walk through the water of the Gröbenbach. The nature destinations mentioned have different themes: the Water Life Trail is devoted to water, while the Urban Nature Trail and wild bee garden focus on habitats.
Cycling routes and getting around
The Munich–Augsburg Cycle Route crosses Puchheim from east to west, coming from Munich and continuing on to Fürstenfeldbruck. It was formerly called the Isar–Lech Cycle Route. A section of the RadlRing Munich runs through Puchheim along the Gröbenbach and the Großer Ascherbach; it comes from Germering to the south and continues towards Gröbenzell and Dachau. The waterways and directions provide concrete reference points for your planning. Check the current route before setting off.
Puchheim has a centrally located S-Bahn station. If you are planning to arrive by S-Bahn, check the latest connections with the MVV. This way, you can base your travel plans on the timetable in effect during your stay, without relying on an unconfirmed line number.
Art and events
On the lawn at the Puchheim Cultural Centre (PUC) stands the installation “House of Cultures” by Markus Heinsdorff. It consists of seven houses, each with a floor area of eight square metres (3.8 × 1.86 metres) and a height of four metres. The installation is illuminated from dusk. A monument in the green space at the Puchheim Sports Centre commemorates the Puchheim airfield.
The Puchheim AUFTAKT folk festival has been held every spring for more than half a century. It features a large festival tent, brass band music, Bavarian beer, culinary specialities, shooting galleries and fairground rides. If the festival is important to your stay, check the dates for the relevant year in advance.
Weekly market and bread-baking house
The Puchheim weekly market is held at the Grüner Markt in Puchheim-Bahnhof every Saturday from 7 am to 12:30 pm. This regular schedule can help you plan a Saturday morning; before your visit, check that the market date works for your travel day.
According to an announcement current through August 2026, baking days at the bread-baking house in Puchheim-Ort were scheduled for the first and third Saturday of each month, starting on 15 November 2025. Participants bring their bread dough at a fixed time reserved in advance. Before making plans, check whether the announced baking days are still taking place.
