Discover Triftern: Swimming Area and Local History
Accommodation in Triftern
Triftern offers a range of starting points for planning a trip: the swimming area with its swimming and sports facilities, the history of the Alte Post, and a geological formation in the surrounding area. The wider destination of Rottal-Inn complements these local themes with its own cultural, nature and leisure activities.
Local history and practical information
A mikar car-sharing vehicle is parked in front of the town hall in Triftern. It can be booked after registering with mikar. Availability and registration requirements may change, so check the current terms before booking.
The Alte Post is an ensemble of buildings dating from the late 18th century. It was an extensive former inn with numerous guest rooms, a bowling alley and a large barn. Triftern was granted market rights as early as 1388. The construction of the Alte Post and the granting of market rights mark two distinct chapters in the town’s history.
Swimming area and outdoor activities
The Triftern swimming area has a 25-metre swimming pool, a non-swimmer pool and a paddling pool. Operating information is weather-dependent, so check the current conditions before your visit.
The site also has two tennis courts, a volleyball court, a football pitch and a skate park. An 18-hole mini-golf course and a children’s playground round out the facilities. Swimming, ball sports, skating and mini-golf are all available. It is best to check the current availability of the facilities on site.
Landscape in the surrounding area
The Kaser Steinstuben are south of Triftern, between Voglarn and Osten. The block stream there stretches for more than 100 metres and is up to 20 metres wide. If you plan to visit this geological formation, check local conditions beforehand.
Rottal-Inn: culture, nature and leisure
The wider destination of Rottal-Inn offers further highlights for planning your trip. The Rottal Terme has more than 30 thermal water pools with temperatures of 26 to 40 °C, as well as 13 different saunas and steam baths. It also features a 105-metre-long thermal stream and health, prevention and wellness services. Figures and individual facilities may change due to renovations or over time.
The Theater an der Rott stages premieres every year in drama, musicals, concerts, dance, operetta and opera; individual productions vary. It is the only theatre in Germany owned by a district. For culture enthusiasts, the “Gothic Tours” showcase selected Gothic monuments for residents and tourists. Resources include brochures, maps, the tour portal and the Gothic portal. The latter offers audio guides to Gothic buildings that can be accessed on site, as well as an online museum with information, educational content and learning resources.
Routes and nature are also among the highlights of Rottal-Inn. The Inn Cycle Route runs through the Lower Inn European Nature Reserve and offers a variety of opportunities to discover local flora and fauna in the Rottal-Inn leisure region. This region has a well-developed, extensive network of trails spanning several hundred kilometres for hikers and cyclists. The tour portal helps with individual route planning by providing information on elevation profiles and trail conditions, as well as GPX downloads; details of how to use it may change.
The Rottaler Farm Tour offers a different perspective on rural life. This experience programme explores everyday farm work, wildlife, rural culture, traditional crafts, handicraft techniques and regional specialities. The wider Rottal-Inn region therefore offers a variety of themes, from theatre and Gothic art to nature experiences and rural culture.
