Bad Birnbach offers a range of starting points for planning your trip: the meditation trail through the spa park, concerts at the Artrium, a permanent historical exhibition and the municipally operated Bella Vista Golfpark. If you’re looking for a hotel, it helps to decide what you want to focus on: would you like your stay to revolve around a walk, music, local history or golf?

Meditation trail in the spa park

The meditation trail starts at the Artrium and follows a route of around 700 metres through the spa park in Bad Birnbach. Its stations offer prompts for reflection and illustrations created especially for the trail by Thomas Richter. Both the route through the park and the design of the stations are part of the walk. The approximate length gives you a concrete point of reference for planning, while the illustrations and prompts shape the trail’s character.

Culture and history

The Artrium is a cultural and community venue in Bad Birnbach. It hosts concerts ranging from classical music to rock ’n’ roll. This musical range makes the Artrium a cultural highlight in its own right when planning a trip. If a concert is the reason for your stay, check the date of the event in advance.

The permanent exhibition “1,200 Years of Bad Birnbach” offers a historical perspective: it has been on display in two rooms of the former monastery since 2013. If you plan to make the exhibition a fixed part of your itinerary, check current visiting arrangements in advance.

Golf in Bad Birnbach

Bella Vista Golfpark is a municipally operated golf course in Bad Birnbach. Golf is therefore a distinct local attraction alongside the cultural and park offerings.

Rottal-Inn as a regional addition

The wider destination of Rottal-Inn adds more themes to explore. These broaden the picture beyond what Bad Birnbach itself has to offer: thermal baths, theatre, Gothic heritage, cycling and hiking trails, and rural culture each have their own focus.

In the wider destination of Rottal-Inn, Rottal Terme has more than 30 pleasantly warm thermal-water pools with temperatures of 26 to 40°C, as well as 13 different saunas and steam baths. It also has a 105-metre-long thermal stream, along with health, prevention and wellness services. These details may change during renovation work.

Also in Rottal-Inn, Theater an der Rott presents premieres every year in drama, musicals, concerts, dance, operetta and opera. It is the only county-owned theatre in Germany. Its annual programme brings together several stage genres; individual productions change.

Rottal-Inn’s “Gothic Tours” showcase selected Gothic monuments to local residents and tourists. Visitors can find their way around using brochures, maps, the tour portal and the Gothic portal. The Gothic portal also offers audio guides to Gothic buildings that can be accessed on site, as well as an online museum with information, knowledge and learning resources.

In the Rottal-Inn leisure region, the Inn Cycle Path runs through the Lower Inn European Reserve, offering insights into its flora and fauna. The leisure region also has a well-developed, extensive network of routes, with several hundred kilometres for hikers and cyclists. The tour portal helps visitors plan their own routes with information on elevation profiles and trail conditions, as well as GPX downloads.

The Rottaler Hoftour is another experience programme in the wider destination of Rottal-Inn. It focuses on rural life, everyday work, wildlife, farming culture, traditional crafts and handicraft techniques, as well as regional specialities. This gives it a different focus from theatre, Gothic heritage or the trails through the leisure region.
