Wine, Crafts, and Local History

The village museum brings to life the history of Nonnenhorn’s craftspeople and fruit and wine growers. It is housed in a farmhouse that is 300 to 400 years old. Exhibits include old winemaking equipment, a cooper’s workshop, parts of a locksmith’s workshop, and an old farmhouse parlor with a bedroom. The museum therefore focuses on both traditional crafts and the lives of fruit and wine growers.

The old wine press is also part of the village’s winemaking history. Dating from 1591, it is considered one of the oldest wine presses in the Lake Constance region. Visiting periods are scheduled there for 2026 from April 1 to June 24 and from October 7 to 28. Another way to learn about winemaking is the “Weintour Bodensee” from Nonnenhorn. The Bavarian-Swabian Way of St. James ends at the chapel in Nonnenhorn; from there, pilgrims traditionally cross Lake Constance by boat to Rorschach in Switzerland and continue their journey on the Via Jacobi.

Nonnenhorn has a Deutsche Bahn railway station and a landing stage served by seasonal BSB passenger boats.
