Ringsheim combines local history with a variety of themed trails and excursion options. During your stay, you can focus on hiking trails, historic buildings, or activities in the region. Finding a hotel in Ringsheim is the next step if you want to choose the town as a base for your trip.

Getting to Ringsheim and excursions from here

Ringsheim has a railway stop on the Karlsruhe–Basel Rhine Valley line. The Rust exit (57b) on the A5 is also in Ringsheim. Bus route 7231 connects the town with Europa-Park. For the bus journey, it is advisable to check the current timetable before you travel, as route information may change.

Ringsheim is a starting point for excursions in and around the Black Forest, as well as to Europa-Park and the Rulantica water park. This means that, alongside local trails, excursions are also a possible focus for your trip. The rail connection, motorway exit, and bus service offer different points of reference for your planning; which one matters to you depends on your route.

Hiking trails with a range of themes

The Ringsheim Genussrunde is a 4.9-kilometer circular trail. It starts at the Bürgerhaus at Denkmalstraße 16. The Ringsheim Glückauf-Schleife, by contrast, starts at the playground “Im Berg” on Erzstraße and is 5.0 kilometers long. The routes are similar in length but have different starting points—a simple first comparison if you want to plan your walk based on distance or where it begins.

The Glückauf-Schleife is a history-rich trail around the former “Grube Kahlenberg” mine. Nine information panels explain, in particular, how mining developed in Ringsheim. The route thus connects its theme with a specific insight into local mining history.

Another hiking option is the Ringsheim Wein-Kunst-Weg. It focuses on ecology and species conservation in connection with winegrowing, and starts at the “Im Berg” playground in Ringsheim. This starting point also offers a view over Ringsheim and is on Erzstraße. The municipality is also part of the Kaiserberg hiking trail network, which connects Ettenheim, Ringsheim, and Herbolzheim around the Kaiserberg. Unlike the two circular and themed trails mentioned above, this network extends across several municipalities.

The routes and starting points of the Genussrunde and the GlĂĽckauf-Schleife may be adjusted if a trail is redesigned. Therefore, check the latest route details before setting out.

Churches and local history

The listed late Baroque Church of St. John the Baptist stands in the center of Ringsheim. It was built in 1784/1785. East of the Alte BundesstraĂźe, near the Ochsenbrunnen, stands the Johanneskapelle, dating from the 17th century. The two buildings offer different historical reference points: the church dates from the late 18th century, while the chapel is from the 17th century.

Together with the themed trails, they offer a range of options for your stay: you can explore local architectural history, take mining as the theme of a hike, or choose the Wein-Kunst-Weg, with its focus on ecology and species conservation. The trail information also highlights different starting points, including the Bürgerhaus and the “Im Berg” playground.
