Östringen combines the landscape of the Kraichgau with options for active and culture-focused stays. When choosing a hotel in Östringen, you can decide whether trails and nature, a visit to the lake, art or architectural history should shape your stay. The destinations offer different highlights: from the Brunnenweg trail around Östringen to the architectural history of the former monastery complex at Stifterhof.

Landscape and travel connections

Östringen lies in the hills of the Kraichgau; extensive forests, vineyards and traditional orchards shape the area. Road connections include Federal Highway B 292 and the A 5 and A 6 motorways. If you are travelling by car, you can include these roads in your route planning. Karlsruhe district extends from the Rhine plain in the west, across the hilly Kraichgau landscape in the east, to the foothills of the Northern Black Forest in the south.

Geotrails and paths by the lake

The geotrail network includes the approximately 13-kilometre-long Brunnenweg trail around Östringen and the Hügelweg trail from Odenheim via Eichelberg and Tiefenbach. Bus connections from Eichelberg and Tiefenbach back to Odenheim are available for geotrail excursions. If you plan to use these connections, check the timetables before setting out.

Paths for walking and cycling run around Kreuzbergsee lake in Tiefenbach, a district of Östringen. The lake therefore adds a different kind of route to the geotrail network. The sulfur spring in Krummbach Forest is open to the public; visitors can taste the water free of charge.

Art and local history

The Gustav Wolf Art Gallery in Östringen is dedicated to the artistic legacy of Gustav Wolf. Wolf was a Jewish painter, graphic artist, etcher and lithographer. The Gustav Wolf Gallery also regularly hosts temporary exhibitions by contemporary artists. This places the legacy of a particular artist alongside current artistic perspectives as distinct areas of focus. Municipal institutions and a diverse range of clubs and associations also contribute to the broad cultural offering.

St. Cäcilia Parish Church is Romanesque Revival in style and was built in 1895. Its seven-bell peal includes two historic Baroque bells cast in 1709. Remains of the former 12th-century Wigoldesberg monastery complex have been preserved at Stifterhof. Two nearby defensive towers give an impression of the complex's former extent. Together, these architectural and historical traces reveal different periods: from the medieval monastery and Baroque bells to the church of the late 19th century.

Winegrowing in Tiefenbach

The VDP wine estate Heitlinger is located among the vineyards of Tiefenbach. It cultivates just over 100 hectares of vines, predominantly using biodynamic methods; the vineyard area and farming methods may change over time. Thus, local winegrowing is represented not only by the landscape but also by a specific wine estate and its cultivation methods.
