Forst offers a range of things to do during your stay: the Jägerhaus, which is linked to the town’s history; the design of Kirchplatz; leisure activities at Heidesee; and opportunities to be active around Waldseehalle. You can also plan your journey using specific rail, public transport and road connections. If you’re looking for a hotel in Forst, you can first consider whether culture, outdoor leisure or transport connections are your priority during your stay.

Jägerhaus and Kirchplatz: History and Culture

The Jägerhaus is a historic monument associated with Forst’s historical relationship with the Lußhardt Forest. It was built in 1747 as a two-storey princely chief forester’s residence. The building has nine rooms and around 1,000 square metres of usable space for events. A varied cultural programme is organised by the local music and art school, a local history and culture association, and local clubs.

At Kirchplatz, a water feature covering just under 100 square metres is the focal point. It is complemented by a three-part stone sculpture by Forst artist Ulla Steiner. A weekly market takes place there on Wednesdays and Saturdays. If a market day fits your plans, you can use it as a reference point when planning your stay.

Heidesee and the gravel pits

Waldsee and Heidesee are gravel-pit lakes that provide a place for residents and visitors to relax. Forst’s leisure facilities include the Heidesee Leisure Park. It has a three-lane water slide measuring 225 metres in total, a beach volleyball court and a children’s paddling pool. The slide, court and paddling pool offer a clear picture of the different leisure activities available at Heidesee.

Activities around Waldseehalle

There are two playgrounds for children of different age groups around Waldseehalle. Other facilities include a floodlit small-sided pitch with goals and basketball hoops, a skateboard halfpipe and table tennis tables. You’ll find a range of ways to play and stay active there, from ball games to skateboarding and table tennis. If you’re travelling with children, you can consider the playgrounds and children’s paddling pool when planning your leisure time.

The barbecue hut for group occasions

For group events, Forst’s barbecue hut offers 240 square metres of covered space for up to 150 people. Facilities include a fire pit, a Gaucho grill and toilets on site. The barbecue hut can be rented through Forst Municipal Services. If your stay includes a get-together or celebration, the stated capacity and municipal rental arrangements are useful points to consider when planning.

Getting here and finding a hotel
