Uhingen lies in the Fils Valley, nestled in the gentle hills of the Voralb region. The surrounding area offers opportunities for hiking, cycling, exploring and enjoying the scenery. When planning your trip, you can first decide whether you want to focus on a longer route, a view of the town or industrial heritage. Then tailor your search for a hotel in Uhingen accordingly.

Routes between Schurwald and industrial heritage

The Eastern Schurwald Route follows Kaisersträßle over the ridge of the Schurwald. It is around 50 kilometres long, can be cycled in either direction and is considered suitable for families. It starts and ends at Uhingen railway station. Its length and endpoints give your tour a clear framework; plan the route as a single cycling activity.

The Fils Valley Industrial Heritage Route is a different focus and is one of Uhingen’s attractions. It crosses fields to Uhingen, where it follows the railway and the Allgaier Werke company site. At the entrance to town, it reaches the town centre and Gerber Park. Röhm Mill and BEMO model railways are a little further away. If you plan to take this route, check its current course before your trip.

Views and Filseck Castle

From the Uhingen viewpoint, you can look out over the town of Uhingen and the Schurwald. Filseck Castle stands on a prominent hill on the southern slope of the Fils Valley, in the municipality of Uhingen. In the wider travel destination of Göppingen, it is considered a cultural and gastronomic attraction for the district. This gives you a choice between a viewpoint overlooking the town and Schurwald and a castle with a regional connection.

Wibele and local history

Confiserie Bosch in Uhingen is known for its tradition of producing Wibele. During a guided tour of the confectionery’s history and its glass-fronted production area, participants are guided by the managing director, Mr Hellstern. If you plan to take such a tour, confirm the dates and group conditions with the provider in advance.

One historical connection dates back to 1911: in May, 27-year-old Adolf Bosch Senior opened a confectionery with a café and colonial goods shop right by the railway station and post office.

Hiking and mountain biking in the wider travel destination of Göppingen

The Löwenpfade in Göppingen district are circular hiking trails between 3 and 24 kilometres long. At the trailheads, information boards show the route, an elevation profile and attractions along the way. The trails can be walked in either direction and are signposted and marked both ways. The boards therefore provide guidance on the route and elevation profile, while the trail lengths give you a clear idea of the distance involved.

The Löwentrails offer a different kind of activity: Göppingen district has four mountain-bike loop routes, ranging from 16 to 30 kilometres. They are particularly suitable for beginners and e-mountain bikers. In the region, the Löwenpfade are hiking trails, while the Löwentrails are for mountain biking; their length and suitability can help you choose the right type of tour for your trip.
