Haiterbach lies on the edge of the Black Forest and is part of the Heckengäu and Schlehengäu region. Together, these form a narrow strip between the eastern Northern Black Forest and the Gäu. The town is in the Calw district of Baden-Württemberg, at an elevation of about 506 meters. If you are looking for a hotel in Haiterbach, the local attractions can help you plan your stay: hiking routes, nature experiences, and local history each offer a different focus.

Landscape and Hiking

Haiterbach has marked hiking trails. The Kuckucksweg is a circular route around the entire town. It is about 20 kilometers long and divided into two equal stages. This division provides clear guidance for anyone planning to hike the circular route in sections. The Kuckucksweg can also be distinguished from the shorter Naturerlebnispfad: the two trails differ not only in length, but also in their individual focuses.

Nature Trail in the Tann Area

The nature trail in the Tann area offers sensory activities and information about geology at a quarry. The route is 3.6 kilometers long and involves an elevation gain of 70 meters. It begins and ends at a parking lot directly on the road to Beihingen. Along the trail, the forest and animals are explained in a child-friendly way. At 3.6 kilometers, it is much shorter than the Kuckucksweg, which covers about 20 kilometers. The two trails therefore differ both in their route format and in the topics they cover.

Local History and Heritage Museum

Haiterbach was first mentioned in a document in 1099. The medieval town wall, with its three gates, is thought to have been built in the final decades of the 13th century. Haiterbach was granted town rights in 1349; in 1363, the Counts of Hohenberg sold Haiterbach to the County of Württemberg. These dates mark different stages in the town’s history: its first documented mention, the presumed construction period of the town wall, and later changes to its town rights and rulers.

The heritage museum opened in Beihingen in 2000. Activity days are held there on the first Sunday of each month from April through October. Visits can be arranged by agreement with the association’s board. If you plan to visit the museum, coordinate your visit with the association’s board.
