Taillades lies at the foot of the western end of the Luberon. Two rocky viewpoints above the village offer views across the Luberon, from the Cavaillon plain to Mont Ventoux. The landscape can be experienced both in these wide-ranging views and on the trails around the village.

Landscape and trails around Taillades

An extensive network of paths and trails offers opportunities for hiking, horse riding and mountain biking. Access restrictions may apply in summer; take possible restrictions into account when planning your visit. One specific hiking option is Colline de Pied Caud: the easy circular route covers 5.5 kilometres, with 123 metres of ascent and 123 metres of descent. The walk takes about 1 hour and 50 minutes. Along the way, it offers views of the Petit Luberon and the Durance Valley. Check the route details before setting out, as information may change.

Colline de Pied Caud therefore offers a clearly quantified route with views of two named landscapes. The rocky viewpoints above Taillades offer a different perspective, from the Cavaillon plain to Mont Ventoux. If you would like to explore the landscape on foot, you will find both a specific circular walk and a wider network of trails for various activities.

Historic sites in the old village

The old village preserves La Tour, a remnant of a fortification. At the entrance to the Vieux Village, there is also a rock sculpture called “Morvellous,” dating from the 14th or 15th century. In the historic centre, a church dating from the 18th century stands in the upper part of the village. These sites reflect different historical aspects: La Tour points to a fortification, while the rock sculpture and the church are associated with approximate and specific dates, respectively.

Quarry and mill history

The Théâtre des Carrières is located in a former quarry in the village of Taillades, now transformed into an unusual cultural venue. A variety of performances take place there every summer. If you would like to plan your visit around a particular programme, check the dates for the relevant year.

The Moulin Saint-Pierre has its own history: built around 1860, it initially served as a madder-powder factory until about 1875, before becoming a grain mill. For several years, cultural events, including theatre and music, have been held in the mill courtyard in summer. The Moulin is not open for regular visits; access is only possible during events. Before travelling, check whether a suitable event is taking place.

Market and getting there

For 2026, the weekly market of local producers and food artisans is scheduled to take place at the Moulin from April to the end of October, and at Place de la Mairie from November to the end of March. For later years, check the dates and locations again. Taillades can be reached via the D143 and D2 roads. When planning, you can take into account the seasonal market locations, possible event dates and access via the two named roads.

Whether you are mainly interested in hiking during your stay, seeing the historic traces in the old village or attending a cultural event, Taillades offers different options. The hiking route has an approximate walking time, while summer programmes and the seasonal market take place on specific dates. Plan your trip around the activity that matters most to you.
