Villelaure can be explored through cultural sites with very different historical highlights. Fountains, sacred art, a former industrial building, archaeological mosaics, a château and an agrotourism destination each offer a distinct focus. When planning your trip, it is worth checking the visiting arrangements for each site. If you are looking for a hotel in Villelaure, these themes can help you plan your stay around culture, wine or an event date.

Fountains, Churches and Château History

The Fontaine St Marc consists of two interlocking fountains. The older one preserves an ornamental basin dating from 1819. The Fontaine « Tour Eiffel » offers a different highlight: it is decorated with a stone depiction of the Eiffel Tower, referencing the 1889 Paris World's Fair. The fountains thus bring together a historic basin and a striking motif.

The Chapelle St Marc dates from the 17th century and contains a polychrome altar. Statues can be seen through its openwork door. The Eglise St Marc features stained-glass windows from the Atelier André in Aix-en-Provence, including a choir window depicting Saint Mark, as well as seven paintings. The Eglise paroissiale Saint Marc is open during the day; check access before setting out.

The history of the Château de Reine Laure also spans several building phases. It probably began as a bastide built in the years after Villelaure was resettled in 1512; before 1563, it was expanded into a château. The Château is considered a Renaissance château and is listed as a Monument historique. It is currently privately owned, so check in advance whether a visit is possible.

La Fabrique is a former industrial sugar factory. The Marquis Joseph II de Palamède de Forbin had it built between 1832 and 1835. The Tour de Ferrier on the grounds of La Ferme Hi Bride has its own long history of construction: in the 12th century, it served as an outpost of the Château d’Ansouis, built for Ferrier de Saint-Chamas. At the end of the 15th century, the fortified structure was altered; later, the site became a silkworm farm and an important estate.

Mosaics, a Park and Regional Orientation

Four large mosaic-decorated rooms of a villa were discovered on the private estate of La Tuilière. Based on the medallion motifs, the complex is dated to the 2nd or 3rd century AD. The archaeological interest here includes both the mosaics and the dating of the rooms. As the site is on private property, check in advance whether a visit is possible.

Among Villelaure’s outstanding sights are the park of Château Verdet-Kebler and its two-hundred-year-old cedar. For broader trip planning, roads and paths from Villelaure lead to the Parc naturel régional du Luberon. Alongside the town’s specific architectural and archaeological stories, the regional connection to the nature park offers another point of reference.

Wine, Agrotourism and Events

Domaine des Jardinettes welcomes visitors for tastings of its AOC Luberon wines and tours of the estate. Check the arrangements for visits in advance. La Ferme Hi Bride offers a different contemporary highlight: as an agrotourism destination, it brings together the land, architecture, art and hospitality. If you plan to visit, enquire about the visiting arrangements beforehand.

Villelaure’s votive festival is celebrated as the Fête de la Saint Marc. The three-day festival scheduled for 1 to 3 May 2026 included pétanque, parades, olympiads, dance evenings and fireworks. Those dates have passed; check the dates of future celebrations when planning a later stay. La Foulée du Cèdre is a running event in Villelaure with courses of 7 or 15 kilometres. If the race is the reason for your trip, the two distances offer a concrete comparison of the participation required; here too, check the dates of the edition you wish to attend.
