When choosing a hotel in Le Pontet, your travel interests may help you decide: history, a walk, water sports or horse racing. The activities also differ in how they need to be planned. Urban Wake Park operates seasonally; for Hippodrome de Roberty, the specific race meeting is a separate planning consideration. This allows you to match your personal priorities to your travel dates.

Château de Fargues: History and Heritage Status

Château de Fargues was probably built at the beginning of the 14th century as a cardinal’s residence. The château’s main building was classified as a Monument historique by decree of 1 October 1982. The probable date of its construction and the precisely dated year of its classification can therefore be considered side by side. The designation applies expressly to the main building. For a historical and cultural perspective, the presumed early function, approximate construction period and later heritage status can thus be considered separately.

Walking in the Fargues district

The fitness trail in Le Pontet is 2,000 metres long, is located in the Fargues district and forms a pedestrian loop. It runs through long avenues and the park south of the town hall. Its length, route type and course provide clear guidance if you would like to include a walk in your stay. This route therefore offers a different type of activity from the seasonal water sports at Urban Wake Park.

Parc de la Mairie has an insect hotel and various nesting boxes. In April 2025, 14 information panels were also installed there. Alongside the route itself, these specific features of the park can also be taken into account when planning your visit.

Water sports at Urban Wake Park

Urban Wake Park offers cable wakeboarding for beginners and advanced riders. Wakeskate, foil and two courses with eight obstacles are intended for experienced users; the courses are 168 and 180 metres long, respectively. The activities therefore vary by sport and experience level. The course configurations may change, and the park operates seasonally. Before your visit, check the current course information and, in line with your travel dates, when the activities you want are available. You can also rent paddleboards on site.

Harness racing at Hippodrome de Roberty

Hippodrome de Roberty is the oldest racecourse in the province and has been located on the grounds of Château de Roberty since 1868. Château de Fargues and Château de Roberty have different historical associations: Fargues is linked to the probable cardinal’s residence, while Roberty is associated with the racecourse. Hippodrome de Roberty hosts harness racing only, with horses pulling sulkies and racing under saddle. Numerous race meetings are held each year; as the programme may vary, it is worth checking the race calendar before your trip. The visitor experience includes a finish-line lap with a commentator and photographer, race stewards, race management and a betting area. The arrangements in place at any particular meeting may vary.
