Would you like to visit a historic church, plan a guided cellar tour with a tasting, or go for a bike ride? The places and routes give these possibilities a tangible shape. You can choose the character of your trip based on what you actually want to do.

Church and historical heritage

The Église Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul in Sarrians is a church with major construction phases dating to the 11th and 14th centuries. It has been listed as a historic monument since 5 December 1973. The two construction phases place the building in different centuries; the listing adds a specific date for its protected status. If you would like to focus on culture during your stay, the church is a clearly identified landmark in the town’s history.

The Circuit des Châteaux-Sarrians offers a different perspective on the built heritage: it follows small country roads past private châteaux and grand estates dating from the Middle Ages to the 18th century. As these are private estates, the route is intended for viewing as you pass; access to the buildings is not guaranteed.

Wine and farm life

During the guided cellar tour at Domaine Fontaine du Clos, you’ll learn about the journey of the grapes from vineyard to bottle. The tour ends with a tailor-made tasting of five wines from the range. Tour arrangements and tasting formats may change, so check the current details in advance.

At Ferme Pédagogique de R'oiselet, the “Explorateur de la ferme” activity includes picking fruit, caring for animals and discovering farm life. This offers a different focus from the cellar tour: here, agricultural activities and life on the farm take centre stage, while the cellar tour focuses on the journey of the grapes and wine tasting. If you’re planning your stay around your interests, you can consider these two activities as different ways to explore agriculture and winegrowing.

Cycling routes with different highlights

The 45 km cycling loop runs entirely within Sarrians. It passes through the plain and the garrigue plateau, as well as vineyards and wine estates in the commune; all the estates along the route belong to the Vacqueyras appellation. Another option is an approximately 20 km mountain biking route. For much of its length, it follows the banks of the Canal Sainte Marie, a branch of the Canal de Carpentras that runs through Sarrians. The routes differ considerably in length, and the distance given for the mountain biking route is explicitly approximate. This gives you a choice between a longer loop through varied landscapes and winegrowing areas, and a shorter mountain biking route alongside the canal.

You can also consider other cycling trips. The La Roue d'Or cycling club offers the chance to discover two signposted cycling loops in Sarrians. From Sarrians railway station, you can also try four other cycling routes. The area includes a fertile plain and a garrigue plateau and is shaped by agriculture and winegrowing. When planning, you can take into account the landscape and winegrowing, as well as route length, bike type and starting point.
