Spéracèdes lies on a mountainside and faces due south. The town is set in a protected natural landscape typical of the Pre-Alps. If you’re looking for hotels for a stay in Spéracèdes, you can start by deciding whether the scenery, local history or a festival date will shape your visit. The features below offer specific points to consider; for events, it’s worth checking the dates for your intended travel year.

Hillside Setting and Views

There’s a viewpoint at the Croix de Spéracèdes, overlooking the Bay of Cannes. From there, you can also see the Îles de Lérins, the Esterel Mountains and Lac de Saint-Cassien. The panorama takes in the bay, islands, mountains and lake—several clearly named landmarks for anyone who wants to include the scenery in their trip planning.

The approach is via a small, winding road that climbs the hill or descends from the village of Cabris. Take this road into account when planning your route, and check current road conditions before setting out.

Village History and Buildings

The Église Saint-Casimir has a clear building history: it was first built as a chapel in 1762, extended in 1849, and given a bell tower in 1860, when the chapel became a church. These dates trace its development from the original chapel to the church.

The Grotte Ardisson is part of the area’s archaeological history. Roman and local pottery sherds, a fibula and a coin of Emperor Tiberius, who died in 37 AD, were found there.

Water supply had long been an ongoing problem for Spéracèdes. Another aspect of the town’s history is the Canal Belletrud, built after the municipality was founded in 1911.

Olive Mill and Regional Products

The Moulin à huile Baussy was run by the Doussan family until 1956. During the production season, from November to March, it opens its doors to visitors; access is seasonal. Check before your trip whether a visit is possible during this period. Moulin Baussy is also an olive mill, producer and seller of regional products. Product availability may change.

Festivals and Music

During the Saint Croix patronal festival, a historical guided tour of the village is organised. If you’d like to take this tour, check the dates and current festival programme in advance, as arrangements may change.

The Spéracèdes festival committee organises the Fête de la Nature every year. A large aioli prepared by Charles Baussy is served at lunchtime. The festival also brings together artisans and producers from the region around a shared theme. Dates and programmes may change from one edition to the next, so base your travel plans on the dates for your intended year.

The recurring music and village festivals also offer helpful timing: the « Heures musicales » festival takes place every year in June, and the Fête de la Croix every year in July. Check the dates for the travel year you’re interested in for both events. This will help you take the different festival dates into account when choosing when to stay.
