Le Louroux-Béconnais brings together local history, summer swimming and trails. At the Église Saint-Aubin, architectural history and stained-glass windows depicting scenes from the Revolution come together; at the Étang du Petit-Anjou, Louroux Plage offers supervised swimming in summer. There is also the Petit-Anjou leisure area and several routes with different points of interest. During your stay, you can choose between culture, a seasonal activity by the water and trails with different focuses.

Église Saint-Aubin: Architectural History and Stained-Glass Windows

The former church was burned down by the Chouans in 1794. The Église Saint-Aubin was rebuilt from 1860 onward. Its stained-glass windows tell the story of the French Revolution through the history of Noël Pinot. The building’s history and the windows thus offer two different ways to approach the historical subject: the dates place the destruction and rebuilding in chronological context, while the windows depict the Revolution through the story of an individual. When you visit the church, you can consider these two aspects separately while also recognizing their connection to the history of the Revolution.

The Église Saint-Aubin is open year-round and can be visited free of charge. Check local visitor information before your trip.

Étang du Petit-Anjou and Leisure Area

At the Étang du Petit-Anjou, Louroux Plage has a landscaped beach; supervised swimming is available there in summer. Access conditions for this seasonal offer may change, so check them before your visit. This lets you plan your swim around the summer season while keeping its seasonal nature in mind.

The Petit-Anjou leisure area has a children’s play area and a fitness zone. It also includes picnic tables with freely accessible barbecue facilities, as well as a snack area offering sweet and savory food. This gives you different options for a break: picnic tables and barbecue facilities alongside a selection of snacks. The play area and fitness zone, in turn, offer different types of activity within the grounds. When planning your visit, you can decide whether exercise, play or a meal break is your priority.

Compare Trails and Routes

The Balade du Petit Anjou starts at the Petit-Anjou leisure area and follows roads and paths around the commune of Le Louroux-Béconnais. Its starting point is specified, and the route links roads and paths in the surrounding area. The Sentier des Chaponneaux has a different focus: information panels introduce the fauna and flora of Le Louroux-Béconnais. Here, the nature themes provide points of reference along the way.

The Circuit du Bois de nos Grâces circular hiking trail is 11 kilometers long and follows small roads and paths. It runs around the Étang du Petit-Anjou and offers a chance to explore Le Louroux-Béconnais close to the town. This gives you several useful criteria for comparing the routes: the Circuit has a stated distance, the Balade has a specific starting point at the leisure area, and the Sentier focuses on information panels about fauna and flora. When choosing, consider whether a specific distance, a named starting point or nature information is most important for your plans. This way, you can distinguish the routes by their stated features rather than treating them as a single, uniform offering.
