Corbon – Manoir de la Vove and Saint-Martin
Accommodation in Corbon
Corbon combines architectural heritage with activities in the countryside. Manoir de la Vove brings together buildings from the 15th and 18th centuries, as well as a detached chapel; the parish church of Saint-Martin preserves Romanesque traces. There are also Percheron draft horses in the fields, carriage rides and paths through the surrounding area. When choosing a destination, this offers a concrete comparison: historic architecture on one hand, horses and countryside on the other.
Manoir de la Vove: two building phases and a chapel
Manoir de la Vove consists of a pavilion dating from the 15th century and a larger main residential building from the 18th century. The estate also includes a detached chapel in the Flamboyant Gothic style. The pavilion and main building therefore represent two different building phases; the chapel adds a point of comparison as a separate structure. In 1974, the façades and roofs, the staircase of the octagonal tower, and the chapel were partially listed as historic monuments. The grounds of the manor are open to visitors. Check the current visiting conditions before your visit.
Saint-Martin and Romanesque window openings
The parish church of Saint-Martin was probably built in the 13th century. On its north, south and east sides, it preserves walled-up Romanesque window openings. The original floor plan and the west portal have also been preserved; at the municipal level, the church is one of Corbon’s significant buildings. For an architectural comparison, it offers a different point of view from the manor: there, two residential buildings of different dates and the chapel stand out; here, the Romanesque openings, their distribution across three sides, and the church’s preserved original form.
Horse-related activities and countryside
At Ferme de l’Absoudière, visitors can see Percheron draft horses in the fields. The Maudet family organizes visits to the stud farm by appointment and reservation. Arrange the details of your visit before arriving. During carriage rides, visitors can learn about the natural features of the Perche and local history. A stud farm visit and a carriage ride therefore also differ in their focus: horse breeding on the one hand, and countryside and history on the other.
Another view of the manor is offered by the L'échappée de Sublaine route: from the voie verte, it opens up a view of Manoir de la Vove in Corbon. This provides a specific route connection to the estate, in addition to the architectural descriptions.
In the countryside around Corbon, you can explore sunken lanes and forest paths on foot, by bicycle and on horseback. This offers different ways to experience the surrounding area without limiting the trip to a single mode of travel. Corbon is one of the municipalities in the Natura 2000 protected area FR2512004 “Forêts et étangs du Perche”. This is a different connection to nature from the paths in the surrounding area: it places Corbon within the named protected area, while the sunken lanes and forest paths describe the specific landscape to explore.
