Les Perques: Manors, Bridge and Circular Walk
Accommodation in Les Perques
Les Perques brings together cultural and historical landmarks with a specific hiking option. Its architectural heritage includes the Manoir des Perques, the Manoir de l’Épinay and the Église Saint-Paul; the Pont du Parc adds an old bridge to the story. The Le bois du Longbost circular walk offers a different focus, with its distance, approximate walking time and travel options all specified. This allows the architectural history and the walk to be considered as distinct highlights of a stay.
Manors and historic buildings
The Manoir des Perques is an example of a medieval dwelling in the Clos du Cotentin. The Manoir de l’Épinay is a group of buildings dating from the 16th century; its courtyard is enclosed on three sides by imposing buildings. The two buildings offer different points of interest—the medieval dwelling form of the Manoir des Perques and the courtyard layout of the Manoir de l’Épinay. The Manoir de l’Épinay is private property. If you are considering a visit, check in advance whether access is possible. The Église Saint-Paul is also located in Les Perques.
The Pont du Parc and its history
The Pont du Parc is an old two-arched bridge, dated to the 16th or 17th century. It stands on an old medieval road that passes by the Manoir des Perques; today, the D522 runs along it. Its name probably comes from its immediate proximity to a former manor park belonging to the Manoir des Perques. The bridge thus combines its construction and date with a historic road connection; the explanation of its name remains a hypothesis.
Hiking the Le bois du Longbost circular walk
The Le bois du Longbost circular walk is easy and 10.0 kilometres long; walking time is approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes. This approximate time helps you gauge how much of the day the walk will take. Along the route, there are views of the Scye Valley and Bricquebec-en-Cotentin. The walk thus combines a defined distance with two named landscape features. If you plan the walk, allow approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes for walking; breaks and travel time are not included.
For getting there, it is important to know that the circular walk is accessible by car and that there is a car park near its starting point. It is not served by the Cap Cotentin bus network. If you are travelling by bus, take this limitation into account when planning. The Bois du Longbost is a remnant of the former forest of Bricquebec, which gradually disappeared over time. This adds a historic landscape connection to the walk.
Choosing culture or hiking as the focus of your stay
The planning considerations differ depending on whether you choose a hiking or cultural itinerary: for the circular walk, the distance, approximate walking time, difficulty and travel options are provided. The buildings, by contrast, offer historical context, architectural features and a suspected connection between the Pont du Parc, the former park and the Manoir des Perques. This makes it possible to decide whether you would prefer to plan your stay around a walk with a defined duration or around architecture and history.
