Bouquelon: Hiking Trails, Marshland and Historic Buildings
Accommodation in Bouquelon
For a stay in Bouquelon, hiking trails, the marshland landscape and historic buildings offer a variety of points of interest. The Chemin des Courtils combines specific route details with views and distinctive landscape features. The Chemin de la plaine du Château passes through a different sequence of landscapes and offers views across the Marais Vernier.
Hiking in Bouquelon
Marked in yellow, the Chemin des Courtils is 10.2 kilometres long, with 114 metres of elevation gain and 36 percent unpaved paths. It starts at the church in Bouquelon. Numerous viewpoints offer views across the marshland. The distance, elevation gain and path surfaces provide different details to help you plan your route.
The route passes through long, narrow Courtil plots that extend from the road to the heart of the marshland. Ponds, ditches, thatched cottages and willows pollarded into distinctive shapes line the path. A medieval stone house is also visible from the Chemin des Courtils, as is a half-timbered manor house dating from the 17th century. The route thus combines its landscape with historic buildings along the way.
The Chemin de la plaine du Château passes through open countryside, woodland and bocage. Some sections are lined with pollarded hornbeams. From the picnic tables beside the town hall, the route offers a viewpoint over the Marais Vernier. If you would rather plan your walk around varied landscapes and this view, this route offers a different perspective from the Chemin des Courtils.

Church and Historic Monument
The Église Saint Ouen in Bouquelon includes architectural elements from several centuries. The nave dates from the late 11th century and has a simple portal with two rows of voussoirs. The choir and tower date from the 12th century. A piscina with a double arcade dates from the late 13th century.
The Domaine du château du Plessis is also partly listed as a historic monument and partly classified as a historic monument. The listing dates from 28 July 2005, and the classification from 31 January 2011. Together with the church, these different building phases and protection statuses add specific historic points of interest to Bouquelon’s hiking and nature attractions, helping you plan your trip.
