Discover Auzeville-Tolosane
Accommodation in Auzeville-Tolosane
Auzeville-Tolosane offers several different reasons to visit: buildings dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, the Agriparc d’Auzeville, and activities and a market organised by the Foyer Rural. Its proximity to the Canal du Midi also played an important part in the history of the municipality. When planning your trip, you can consider cultural history, agriculture and local events as separate themes.
Architectural history and historical connections
The Manoir dit Les Frères is a 17th-century brick building with a square floor plan. Since 17 December 1976, some of its façades and roofs have been protected as a Monument historique. The protection therefore applies to the specified parts of the building. Its design and protected status give the Manoir a distinct architectural and historical context.
The Château de Saint Paulet dates from the beginning of the 16th century; the Église St Séverin is also dated to the 16th century. Together with the later Manoir, these buildings offer a comparison across periods: the château and church belong to the 16th century, while the Manoir dates from the 17th. The focus is therefore on buildings from different periods, with the Manoir’s brick construction and square floor plan adding further details.
The town’s location near the Canal du Midi is also part of its history. It made Auzeville-Tolosane a place of cultural and commercial exchange. This historical connection adds another perspective to the individual buildings: the role that proximity to the canal played for the municipality.
Agriparc: agriculture, landscape and education
The Agriparc d’Auzeville combines local agricultural production with enhancing the landscape and biodiversity. Public access, environmental education and short supply chains are also among the Agriparc’s aims. In Auzeville-Tolosane, the focus thus extends from architectural history to agriculture, landscape and food.
As a place open to the public, the Agriparc is also intended to offer educational school visits and awareness-raising activities for all population groups. The subject matter includes food and agriculture in the context of climate change. If you would like to combine your visit with an educational activity, check the current programme in advance.
Market and Foyer Rural activities
On the first Sunday in October, the Foyer Rural holds a flea and second-hand market with 300 exhibitors at Place Tolosane. The date is a useful point of reference if you would like to plan your trip around a visit to the market. Check the details for the relevant year before you travel.
The Foyer Rural’s activities include hiking and “Vélo pour tous” (Cycling for Everyone). Alongside the regular market day, these activities add opportunities for exercise to local life. The market and sports activities cater to different interests: the market provides a specific date to plan around, while the other activities include hiking and cycling.
Cuisine with seasonal produce
The LA TABLE D’AUZEVILLE restaurant serves refined cuisine that is also authentic and modern. All dishes are homemade and prepared with seasonal produce. Dining adds another specific aspect to your stay, alongside the architectural history, Agriparc and activities of the Foyer Rural.
