The Château of Les Angles is a landmark in the town’s history. At the end of the 16th century, it was associated with a branch of the de Garceval family; in the 17th century, it was linked to the Saunhac d’Ampiac family. This sequence distinguishes two successive family associations and gives the Château’s history a clear chronological framework.

Hiking in the Aveyron Valley and in Moyrazès

The discovery route in the Aveyron Valley is 95 kilometers long and follows the GR®62B and GR®36 from Moyrazès to Najac. It is equipped with 86 information panels. The length indicates the scale of the route; the panels provide information along the way. This helps distinguish this longer route from shorter hikes, for which other details are more relevant.

Seven hiking trails are listed for the municipality of Moyrazès; local availability may vary. The Croix de Nances–Bois d’enfer route leads to the GR®62B and the Bois d’enfer. The stated destinations give a specific indication of where the route leads. By contrast, the discovery route is defined mainly by its overall length, the two long-distance trails, and its endpoints, Moyrazès and Najac.

The Les Survivants du Bois d’Enfer discovery trail offers a different scale. Its developed section is 500 meters long and continues as a woodland walk. The section is accessible from the hamlet of Castanié and is described as a very easy 1,800-meter out-and-back route. The 500 meters refers to the developed section, not the entire out-and-back route. So if you want to gauge the length of a hike, both figures are useful: the shorter one for the developed section and the longer one for the round trip.

Pont de Comencau: structure and access

Pont de Comencau lies within the municipalities of Moyrazès and Druelle and is part of the GR®62B. Built in the 15th century, it is made of slate and rests on four round arches. Its construction date, material, and arch design offer different clues for understanding the structure’s history and architecture. It can be reached only on foot or by mountain bike via a farm track. As conditions may change due to weather or maintenance work, check access before your visit.

Landmarks and horseback riding near Moyrazès

A walk through Moyrazès takes you past two old fountains and offers a view of the former seigneurial prison. The streets are also home to a 16th-century Gothic church with a polygonal choir. These sites highlight different aspects of history: the prison points to a former function, while the polygonal choir is a specific feature of the church’s architecture. The fountains add two more old structures to the walk.

Near Moyrazès, Ferme équestre de Pomayret offers horseback rides and an introduction to riding for all experience levels. This adds a horseback activity to the routes described above. Whether you prefer to explore on foot, take a closer look at a landmark, or go for a ride, each of the places and activities mentioned offers a different focus for planning your trip.
