Discover Feytiat
Accommodation in Feytiat
Feytiat offers several specific ways to plan a stay: marked hiking trails of varying lengths, natural areas, historic buildings and a weekly market held every Saturday. If you’re looking for hotels in Feytiat, you can start by deciding what you’d like to focus on. For the hiking trails, consider the distance and starting point; the market, landscape and architectural history offer other points of interest.
Hiking trails with different routes
The network includes six trails for short hikes and one long-distance trail, all starting at Feytiat church. Three circular routes also pass by Parc de la Mairie. When choosing a particular walk, the distance and starting point are useful points of comparison: the Circuit du Moulin de la Vergne starts at the town hall, while the Circuit de la Biche and the Circuit de l'Ecureuil start at the church.
The marked Circuit du Moulin de la Vergne is 2.3 kilometres long and takes approximately 40 minutes. From the town hall, it leads to the Moulin de la Vergne, passing a pond and the Forêt de l’an 2000, as well as following the Valoine through its natural surroundings. The Circuit de la Biche is a marked, six-kilometre hiking trail with several stretches through woodland and viewpoints on the heights of Ardennes. The also-marked Circuit de l'Ecureuil covers 8.5 kilometres; from the church, it passes the Moulin du Châtenet, Crouzeix and the village of Ardennes.
Of these three routes, the Circuit du Moulin de la Vergne is the shortest and the Circuit de l'Ecureuil the longest; at six kilometres, the Circuit de la Biche falls in between. Their starting points also distinguish the routes: the Moulin de la Vergne starts at the town hall, while the other two start at the church. This lets you take both the distance and the starting point into account when planning your day.
Natural spots and waterside trails
Crouzeix is one of Feytiat’s preserved natural areas and can be explored via marked hiking trails. At Étang du Mas Gauthier, a walking path circles the pond, and there is also a picnic area. The natural area lies at the intersection of Feytiat’s municipal hiking trails. Alongside the named routes, you can therefore also explore specific natural spots connected to different trails.
Saturday weekly market
The weekly market takes place every Saturday morning from 8 am to 12 pm at Place du 11 novembre. It offers fresh local produce, fresh meat, eggs, cheese, charcuterie and delicatessen products. Its set morning hours can be taken into account when planning a Saturday in Feytiat; the range of product categories also gives a clear idea of what the market offers.
Architectural history and the townscape
Église Saint-Léger et Saint-Clair is both a starting point for the hiking trails and a building with several major construction phases, dating to the 12th, 19th and 20th centuries. A decree dated 4 February 1988 listed the apse and choir as historic monuments. The construction phases and the heritage listing describe different aspects of the church.
Château du Mas Cerise dates from the 18th century and is set in a remarkable park. The hamlet of Pressac has houses featuring interesting old architecture and ancient origins. The Bonne fontaine, with a tombstone of Saint-Gaucher, is also located there. Together, the church, château and Pressac offer different ways to explore Feytiat’s architectural history and older buildings.
