Chamboulive offers several highlights for your stay: two ponds with different uses, viewpoints and hiking, as well as historic architecture and local production. If you are looking for a hotel in Chamboulive, you can prioritise these highlights based on what interests you most in the area. Swimming and fishing take place at different ponds; viewpoints, architecture and local activities offer other ways to plan your visit.

Ponds with different uses

The Plan d’eau de La Fontalavie covers 3 ha and is designated for swimming. Swimming is supervised in July and August; check the seasonal supervision arrangements again before your trip. The pond has a playground for children aged 2 to 6, barbecue facilities and picnic tables. Alongside swimming, there are places to play and spots to take a break outdoors.

The Étang de Chanteloiseau covers just under 3 ha and is reserved for fishing. It has picnic tables, barbecue facilities, places to walk and shaded areas. The ponds are roughly the same size, but are designated for different uses: La Fontalavie is for swimming, while Chanteloiseau is reserved for fishing. So when choosing between them, the main consideration is which activity you have planned.

Viewpoints and trails

Puy Saint Damien stands at an altitude of 473 m and offers panoramic views of the Monédières and, to the north, as far as Mont Gargan in the Haute-Vienne département. If you would also like to include a hiking route alongside a viewpoint, consider the GR 46, which passes through Chamboulive. The viewpoint and the route through the commune are separate options to consider when planning your time outdoors.

Church and historic townscape

The Eglise Saint-CĂ´me et Saint-Damien has been classified as a Monument historique since 16 March 1921. Its architectural features date from different centuries: the five-sided apse dates from the 12th and 13th centuries. Three bays of the nave and two aisles with rib vaults and heraldic keystones date from the 15th century.

A bay is a section of the nave; the reference to three bays makes the layout of this part of the building easier to understand. The dating of the apse and the 15th-century features also offers a glimpse into several phases of construction. Old houses with mansard roofs also contribute to Chamboulive’s historic character.

Brewery and market

The Brasserie des Anges produces and sells craft beers brewed using traditional methods. The beer is brewed over a wood fire and fermented in oak barrels. A brewery tour lasting about an hour, followed by a tasting, is available by appointment. Arrange your visit before your trip.

The market in the Halle Chamboulivoise brings together traders, producers and craftspeople from Chamboulive and the surrounding area. Alongside the brewery, it offers another highlight beyond the ponds, trails and architectural history, focusing on local production and bringing different market participants together.
