The old village of Borgo sits on a rocky spur overlooking the plain and the sea. The municipality also includes a seafront at Lido de la Marana, which stretches between the settlements of U Stagnu and La Marana. This makes the elevated old village and the coastal landscape two distinct features of the same destination. If you are considering Borgo for a hotel stay, you can connect these perspectives with the themes that matter most to you on your trip: historic architecture, nature trails, or activities along the seafront.

Church and Museum

A prominent landmark in Borgo’s architectural history is the Église de l’Annonciation. Its main construction phase dates to the 17th century, and its main façade is Baroque. In France, the church is classified as a historic monument. The date refers to the main construction phase, while “Baroque” describes the main façade and the classification indicates its heritage status. If you are including historic architecture in your travel plans, the church offers a specific focal point.

The Dian'Arte Museum offers a different cultural focus. It covers an area of 4,000 m² and has indoor and outdoor exhibition areas, as well as a discovery trail through the garden. The museum is devoted exclusively to the artistic works presented there. The church and museum therefore highlight different aspects: construction phase, façade style, and heritage classification at the church; area, exhibition spaces, and a garden trail at the museum. Together, they offer two distinct ways to understand Borgo’s cultural offerings.

Landscape and Trails

The landscape can also be viewed at different scales. The Étang de Biguglia extends across several municipalities, including Borgo, and is classified as a nature reserve. At the Rives de l'Étang de Biguglia site, which includes Borgo, the Pinetu trail runs between the sea and the lagoon. The route passes through dunes, maquis, and beach landscapes. While the Étang refers to a protected landscape spanning several municipalities, the trail description names specific environments along a route.

Another hike leads to the Cime de Stella. It is reached from the village of Borgo via the D7 towards Vignale; a car park is located along this approach road after about 2.9 km. Hikers can discover regional fauna and flora along the way. The reference points mentioned differ if you are comparing it with the Pinetu trail: for Cime de Stella, they are the starting point in the village, the direction along the road, and the approximate location of the car park; for Pinetu, they are the setting between the sea and lagoon and the landscapes along the route. Check local conditions before setting out, as they may change.

There are opportunities for water sports at Lido de la Marana. La Marana also offers a natural setting for walking. Alongside the trails described, coastal activities therefore provide another point of reference for planning your trip.

Local Produce

A producers’ market is held in Borgo on Saturday mornings, where visitors can sample local produce. If you would like to include the market in your plans, check the current date before you travel. This lets you consider Borgo’s culinary scene alongside its cultural and natural attractions.
