Discover Corbeilles through a range of themes: local history at Saint-Germain Church and the Château de Corbeilles, the sculpture “La spirale du temps,” and a circular walking trail. The River Fusain flows through the town; the cultural landscape also includes some wooded areas. The market and municipal orchard add to these impressions. When planning your visit, you can decide whether you are especially interested in architecture, art, landscape, or local market life.

Saint-Germain, art, and the Château de Corbeilles

The choir of Saint-Germain Church dates from the 15th century. The sculpture “La spirale du temps,” which commemorates the transition to the year 2000, stands in the church forecourt. It consists of 20 columns symbolizing the past 20 centuries. Seven of them feature bas-reliefs made from an alloy of brass, tin, and copper. The reliefs depict significant events in the commune since its founding in the 5th century. The artwork thus takes the transition into the new millennium as its starting point and sets it in relation to the commune’s longer history.

The Château de Corbeilles offers another glimpse into the past: it was built for Nicolas François Guérin from 1717 to 1725. The château includes an orangery. Together with the church choir dating from the 15th century, these sites offer different historical perspectives, though they do not date from the same period. For travelers interested in culture, the church grounds, the public sculpture, and the château’s architectural history each offer a distinct point of interest.

Market and regional connections

The market in the town center takes place under the Saint-Germain market hall. Check the latest market information before your visit, as arrangements may change. In the wider area around Corbeilles-en-Gâtinais, six producers still grow saffron; the number of producers may change over time.

River, circular walking trail, and orchard

The Fusain flows through Corbeilles. The area also features a cultural landscape with some wooded areas.

The “Circuit de randonnée à Corbeilles en Gâtinais” circular walking trail is 3 km long and starts at the school parking lot. Check trail conditions before setting out; local signage or access may also change.

The municipal orchard covers slightly more than 5,000 m². It is an educational and recreational place open to the public; on-site rules may change. It adds a distinctive public space to the area’s historical attractions. When choosing what to explore during your stay, you can choose between local history, art, the market, landscape, the circular walking trail, and the orchard. The area is a little more than half a hectare.
