La Rochepot offers several distinct points of interest to help you plan your trip: Romanesque architecture, a dolmen, the château estate, scenic routes and wine tourism experiences. You can organize these topics around your interests rather than combining them into a single itinerary. Those particularly interested in architectural and cultural history will find specific monuments and architectural features; those who want to focus on scenery or wine can look to routes and tasting experiences. This allows buildings, trails and wine experiences to stand as separate focal points.

Cultural history and monuments

The Église Saint-Georges is a Romanesque church dating from the 12th century. Its sculpted capitals depict biblical scenes, combining the architectural form with sculptural motifs. By decree of March 15, 1909, the church was classified as a historic monument. The dolmen “La Pierre qui vire” is a different kind of monument; it was classified by decree of May 21, 1910. The dates 1909 and 1910 refer to the respective classification acts. Together, the church and dolmen offer two clearly distinct points of reference when exploring La Rochepot’s cultural history.

The château estate and its architecture

The Domaine du château de La Rochepot was built on the former medieval residence of the Pot family. Its architecture can be described by its triangular ground plan and the towers at its corners: two of the towers are round and one is square. The estate can therefore be understood both through its overall shape and through the number and form of its towers. The estate is partly listed as a historic monument and partly classified as a historic monument; it is fully protected. Its origins, architectural form and protection status are distinct aspects of the estate.

Routes through the countryside and the commune

The routes differ in their geographical setting: the GR 7 crosses the territory of the commune of La Rochepot to the east and west of the village. The Circuit no. 18 “Le Circuit des Roches” passes through vineyards, orchards, and the hills and rocks of the Hautes Côtes de Beaune. La Rochepot is a possible starting point for this circuit; the route starts at the mairie. The routes therefore differ in their focus: the GR 7 is defined by its position relative to the village, while the circuit is characterized by the landscape and the possibility of starting in La Rochepot. When planning your time, these provide different points of reference for the two routes.

Wine and tastings

Les Divines Bourgogne offers a sensory tasting course featuring three Burgundy wines. It includes tasting methods and three food-and-wine pairings. The format combines tasting with an introduction to how the wines are perceived and carefully matched combinations; the number of wines and pairings gives the course a clearly defined scope. There are also tailor-made wine tourism experiences, including tours of vineyards, wine cellars and cooperages, as well as tastings of exceptional crus. While the course focuses on three wines and three pairings, the individual experiences can include various stops related to wine. An operating period in 2026 is indicated for the wine experiences; confirm availability before your trip.
