Trenčianske Stankovce offers several distinct themes to consider when planning your trip: bell towers in Veľké Stankovce, Rozvadze and Sedličná, traces of local history, and opportunities for cycling, hiking and sport fishing. If you are looking for a hotel, you can choose the focus of your stay based on whether you are more interested in architectural history or want to set aside time for outdoor activities. The themes also differ in their geographical and historical context.

Bell Towers with Distinct Architectural Histories

In Veľké Stankovce stands a masonry bell tower of the tower type, dating from 1859. The Late Classicist bell tower in Rozvadze dates from 1867 and features a stone sculpture and a Classicist bell. In Sedličná stands a masonry Classicist bell tower of the tower type, built in the second half of the 18th century and renovated in 1937. The construction dates allow for a clear comparison: the tower in Sedličná was built earlier than the two bell towers from the 19th century. Its 1937 renovation was a separate, later stage. The architectural features also differ, particularly the sculpture and Classicist bell in Rozvadze.

Finds, Memorials and Traditions

An exceptional notched point made of radiolarite was found at Zadné kopanice, in the cadastral area of Veľké Stankovce. A wooden cross in the cadastral area of Rozvadze, in the direction of Krivosúd–Bodovka, is considered evidence of historical battles. An archaeological find and a memorial with different connections to local history thus stand side by side.

The park has lime trees that, according to old chronicles from Sedličná, were said to have been planted more than 300 years ago. In what was once Veľké Stankovce, five mills operated, also supplying surrounding municipalities. The mills are historical remnants. Women in the area developed embroidery-making traditions. Thus, alongside its buildings, the town’s history also encompasses inherited landscape, economic and craft-related themes.

Cycling and Seasonal Activities

The activities differ in their geographical context: the Vážska cyklomagistrála passes through Trenčianske Stankovce, the Považský Inovec offers suitable hiking conditions in the surrounding area, and nearby ponds provide opportunities for sport fishing. Hiking conditions vary by season. Field and farm tracks along the watercourse are used by cyclists and runners. Check the conditions on the cycling route before setting out; confirm access to the ponds and fishing permits locally. This allows you to factor cycling, hiking and sport fishing into your travel plans according to where each activity is available.

Plan Around an Event Date

The Stankovská zabíjačka is held regularly in February or March. If you want to plan your trip around this event, check the exact date in advance. The recurring period provides a general seasonal guide; the specific event date is what matters for your planning.
