If you are looking for a hotel in Mengusovce, you can start by familiarizing yourself with the village’s location and the different things to see and do there. Mengusovce lies at the foot of the High Tatras, 825 meters above sea level. The surrounding area offers very beautiful views of the High and Low Tatras. This mountain scenery is complemented by protected landscapes, named hiking trails and historic churches. Nature, trails and local history each provide their own points of reference for planning a trip.

Between mountain scenery and protected areas

Mengusovce lies in the protected zone of the High Tatras National Park. The Jelšina Nature Reserve, which protects natural stands of vegetation, is north of the village; the Bôrik Nature Reserve lies to the southeast. The directions help distinguish the two reserves: Jelšina is north of Mengusovce, and Bôrik is southeast. Together with the views of the High and Low Tatras, these protected areas and the mountain scenery define the village’s connection with nature.

Hiking and named routes

There are opportunities for hiking in Mengusovce. The Batizovce–Gerlachov–Mengusovce–Štôla educational hiking trail is intended for the general public and is also suitable for less experienced hikers, as well as children and older people. The place names in its title indicate the sequence of stops, which includes Mengusovce. Another option is the Kimbiark nature trail: it is 13 kilometers long and runs via Bôrik to the outskirts of Mengusovce near the cemetery. These trails offer different points of reference: the route through several villages of the educational hiking trail, and the Kimbiark trail’s specific length and named endpoint.

Churches and historical landmarks

The village’s history can also be traced through its architectural styles and preserved objects. The Roman Catholic Church of Saint Thomas the Apostle was remodeled in the Baroque style in the 18th century. The Evangelical church is a Neoclassical building dating from 1840. Mengusovce is also home to an early Gothic baptismal font from the 13th century and a painted wooden ceiling from the 18th century. The dates therefore range from the medieval baptismal font to 18th-century artifacts and the year the Evangelical church was built.

This date is in the past; the rodeo and cooking competition represent different types of events, from equestrian competitions to preparing a traditional soup.
