Lišov brings together collections and historic architectural styles with a wine-growing landscape and a cycling route that passes through the village. If you are looking for a hotel for your trip to Lišov, the local attractions can help guide your plans, from masks and traditional crafts to wine-growing cottages and the meanders of the Lišovský potok.

Masks, Crafts and Distinctive Architectural Styles

The Galéria masiek displays more than 400 masks from around the world. The collection includes African and Asian masks as well as modern European, American and local pieces. Different regional traditions sit alongside contemporary forms. The Lišovská izba, a small ethnographic museum, offers a different cultural perspective. There, visitors can see and try traditional work and crafts for themselves.

The Keltské obydlie illustrates traditional skills and the use of natural materials. It is made of wood; its walls are woven from hazel rods and plastered with clay. The building was erected without a single nail. Its builders were exchange students from England, Romania and Germany who were staying in Lišov at the time. The construction method and the story of its creation complement each other: the students’ collaborative work is part of the house’s history, as are the materials used.

The stone dwellings range from small rooms to large halls. They were carved into hollows and caves in sandstone and tuff. They probably date from the time of the Turkish incursions and served as shelters for local residents. This presumed origin remains a historical interpretation, not a definite dating. The Evangelical church is also a building with a recorded history: it is said to have been built in 1590, and its current organ dates from 1922.

Exhibitions are held at Stodola Fera Liptáka, a house that retains its traditional architecture. Visits are possible by arrangement and should be organized in advance. This makes it different from places that do not require prior arrangements to visit.

Wine Landscape and Cycling Route

The Vínne chyžky in Lišov include around 300 wine-growing cottages and hand-hewn cellars carved directly into volcanic tuff. Their construction vividly connects local wine-growing with the area’s geology. The Koštovka is also about wine: it is a competition for the best Lišov wine and has been held every spring since 1994. If you would like to include the event in your travel plans, check the dates locally.

The Lišovská cycling route is 24 km long and runs from Dudince to Tesárska roklina, through Lišov and back to Dudince. The meanders of the Lišovský potok can be seen along the route. The loop connects several named places: Lišov is part of the route, while Dudince is both its starting point and return destination. Another natural feature in the village is Hbôl - perisko: a slightly mineralized spring in the lower part of Lišov that does not freeze in winter.

Getting Your Bearings During Your Stay

The Lišov Regional Information Point is located in a renovated house dating from 1887 and serves as an information centre and café. It is best to check locally whether the café is open. Together with the option of arranging a visit to Stodola Fera Liptáka in advance, this can help with your planning. The other attractions offer different highlights: museums and crafts, architectural history, wine or a longer cycling route. Which of these you focus on depends on what interests you most about Lišov.
