Crevedia brings together two themes to consider when planning your trip: horse-riding activities at Caii de la Dârza and places of cultural and historical interest in several villages within the municipality. If you are looking for a hotel, base your choice on the destination that matters most for your stay. Horse-riding activities and churches are located in different parts of the municipality.

Horse-riding activities at Caii de la Dârza

Caii de la Dârza offers introductory riding lessons for children and adults. Qualified instructors focus on safety and learning the basic techniques correctly. Experienced riders can also take advanced courses and specialist training, such as dressage or show jumping. Rides through the countryside are among the activities described as well.

This makes it easy to distinguish between introductory lessons and options for experienced riders when planning. If you are planning a lesson or a ride, confirm the booking directly; for advanced sessions, you should also check availability in advance.

Churches and their history

The Orthodox Church of Sf. Nicolae in Rebegești, now Crețulești, in the village of Mănăstirea in Crevedia municipality, is dated to 1669. It is known as „Biserica dintre ape“ and stands on an embankment between Lakes Zmeul and Buftea. A historical account attributes the construction of the embankment in the same year to the grand logothete Radu Crețulescu, the village landowner, and his brother Pădure Postelnicul.

The church’s interior painting also makes it a distinctive subject of cultural and historical interest: it preserves Byzantine elements and shows influences from the period between the Renaissance and the Baroque. An earlier phase of painting is particularly well preserved in the naos, the church’s main space. The colourful figures there are characteristic of the 17th and 18th centuries. The building history and the paintings thus offer two different ways to understand the church.

In Cocani, the Orthodox Church of Sf. Voievozi is dated to 1800. South of Cocani lies the Cocani–Vii archaeological site on the left bank of the Crevedia River. The two places offer different points of interest: the dated church in the village and the archaeological site on the riverbank.
