Corbii Mari can be explored through two distinct visitor interests: Biserica Sfânta Treime and the ruins of the medieval Corbeni boyar court in the village center, as well as the Izvorul de la Corbii Ciungi nature reserve in the municipality. The church and court ruins are located right next to each other in the village center. This means local history and nature are associated with different geographical areas. If you are looking for hotels in Corbii Mari, these themes can help you plan your stay around your interests.

Biserica Sfânta Treime

Biserica Sfânta Treime is a church from the late medieval period; it was built between 1693 and 1705. The present church was built by Dumitrașcu Corbeanu and his wife Tudosca during the reign of Constantin Brâncoveanu (1688–1714), on the site of an older chapel. That chapel served the homes of the Corbeni boyar family. The church was built during Brâncoveanu’s reign; the chapel is its predecessor and belongs to an earlier period.

The municipality lists the church as a tourist attraction and historic monument. It is home to the patronal icon Sfânta Treime (Cina de la Mamvri). Two aspects together provide context: the sequence from the earlier chapel to the present church, and the specifically named patronal icon.

The church and boyar court in the village center

The ruins of the medieval Corbeni boyar court are located right next to the church in the village center. The name Corbeni also appears in the history of the older chapel, which served the homes of the Corbeni boyar family. The family name therefore appears in two contexts: in the church’s history and in connection with the neighboring court. The church and ruins are separate points of interest in local history, and their location in the village center makes them easy to visit together.

Nature reserve and access routes

Izvorul de la Corbii Ciungi is a floristic and faunistic nature reserve in the administrative area of the municipality of Corbii Mari. For planning your trip, it is helpful to distinguish between the village and the municipality: the church and court ruins are in the village of Corbii Mari, while the reserve is located within the municipality.

The reserve can be reached from the A1 București–Pitești motorway via the exit at kilometer 49, heading toward Corbii Mari on the DJ711A. Another access route is from the DN6 national road (Găești–Giurgiu), which connects Corbii Mari and Izvorul. The two road routes can be distinguished by their reference points: for the A1, use the exit at kilometer 49 and continue on the DJ711A; for the DN6, follow the connection between Corbii Mari and Izvorul. This lets you plan your journey using the specified roads and their corresponding locations.

Plan your stay around your interests

When looking for a hotel in Corbii Mari, you can start by deciding what you would most like to visit. If local history is your priority, the church and court ruins offer a shared point of interest in the village center. If you are interested in nature, the nature reserve within the municipality and its road access points are useful for planning. This lets you base your travel plans on specific places and interests.
