When planning a stay in Turia, you can choose from several different points of interest: the Reformed Church ensemble, the mineral water sites of Băile Csiszár and Baia Fetelor Apor, and the ruins of Bálványos Fortress. These places differ in their architectural history, water features, and location. If you are looking for a hotel for your stay in Turia, these specific characteristics can help you prioritize the destinations that matter to your trip.

Church Ensemble and Architectural History

The Reformed Church ensemble is in the center of Turia, on the right bank of the Turia stream. It comprises a church, an enclosure wall, and a bell tower. Together, the three structures offer a layered view of the site: the ensemble includes not only the church building, but also its surrounding wall and bell tower.

The church dates from the 16th century and was rebuilt in the 19th century. These details describe two distinct building phases—the church’s construction and its later rebuilding. Travelers interested in architectural history should therefore keep both periods in mind.

Mineral Water at Băile Csiszár and Baia Fetelor Apor

Băile Csiszár offers a different kind of experience. There are several cold mineral-water pools there, which vary in size and chemical composition. Băile Csiszár also has a dry mofetta, warm-water bathing tubs, and a sauna. If you are planning your visit around one of these facilities, check its availability before you travel.

Access to Băile Csiszár begins at the parking area by Pension Cetate (Vár). From the main road, it is a ten-minute walk along a forest trail. Trail conditions may vary.

At Baia Fetelor Apor, mineral waters with different chemical compositions and pH levels emerge within a limited area. The site is in the Ciomad-Balvanyoș Natura 2000 protected area. From Balvanyos Resort, Baia Fetelor Apor is a few minutes’ walk through the forest; local trail conditions may vary here as well.

The water features differ in form: Băile Csiszár has several cold pools, while at Baia Fetelor Apor mineral waters emerge within a limited area. The walks also start from different places: the main road for Băile Csiszár and Balvanyos Resort for Baia Fetelor Apor.

The Ruins of Bálványos Fortress

The ruins of Bálványos Fortress are 10 km from the town of Turia, on a rocky outcrop with steep slopes. Archaeologists believe the fortress was built in the 11th or 12th century. This archaeological estimate indicates a period, not a single year of construction. Its dating therefore differs from the architectural history of the Reformed Church, for which the 16th century and rebuilding in the 19th century are specified. The rocky outcrop and steep slopes give the ruins a different landscape character from the church ensemble in the center of town.
