Dalnic offers several distinct points of interest for a trip focused on cultural history: the Reformed church, two memorials to Dózsa György and the arboretum in the Beczásy Garden. In summer 2026, an underwater photography exhibition was also held at Tauchersee. The range of themes therefore extends from architectural history and written records to commemorative culture, garden plants and a temporary exhibition format.

Reformed Church: Building Phases and Inscriptions

Dalnic’s stone Reformed church is believed to have been built in the second half of the 13th century. The medieval church complex includes building phases from the 13th century, a renovation in 1526 and work from the 19th century. Thus, alongside its presumed origins, there was an intervention in the 16th century and considerably later work. This sequence helps readers understand the dates as several building phases rather than a single construction period.

The story of its discovery is also specific: after earthquake debris was removed from the church, a runic inscription and a Latin inscription in Gothic script came to light. The two inscriptions are dated to the 15th and 16th centuries. These written records thus add another perspective on the church complex alongside its building phases.

A visitor notice from August 2026 states that groups can visit the Reformed church outside regular visiting hours by prior arrangement. Arrange a group visit with the church in advance.

Dózsa György: Statue and Memorial Plaque

Dalnic also commemorates Dózsa György. A monumental statue stands in the centre of the village; Szobotka András created it in 1976. There is also a memorial plaque to Dózsa György, created in 1949. The two memorials differ in form and date: the statue followed the plaque in 1976. This makes it possible to distinguish two different forms of commemoration for the same person.

Arboretum in the Beczásy Garden

Another point of interest is the arboretum in the Beczásy Garden. An arboretum is a collection of woody plants; Dalnic’s arboretum includes Ginkgo biloba, Engelmann spruce (Picea engelmannii), Japanese magnolia (Magnolia kobus) and Acer hyrcanum, a maple species that is very rare in the area.

Underwater Photography Exhibition in Summer 2026

The second underwater photography exhibition at Tauchersee in Dalnic opened on 17 July 2026. It was created in collaboration between My Lake and Visit Covasna. The gallery displayed ten photographs of representative churches in Covasna County at a depth of about three metres. In this way, images of churches from Covasna County were presented underwater at Tauchersee. The gallery could be visited by prior appointment from 18 July to 31 August 2026. The exhibition was therefore available for a clearly defined period in summer 2026.
