Korshamn lies on the western side of Revøy, with smaller islands just offshore. Harbour traditions, the chapel and summer activities by the sea give the village a range of points of interest. The wider Lyngdal destination offers distinct nature and culture themes that complement a local perspective on Korshamn.

Coastal Setting and Orientation

Nearby, the municipal hiking trail Skuldra runs south of Austad towards Korshamn. Via Epledalen, you can take an easy hike to a viewpoint overlooking Lyngdal’s outer fjords. The area thus combines a clearly defined hiking route with views of the fjords. Korshamn itself is at the end of County Road 4080, which runs from Skomrag, south of the Lyngdal municipal centre.

The names of the paths also offer a local point of reference: the footpath through Korshamn’s historic outer harbour area is called Havna at the inner end and Udihavna farther out. The names distinguish two sections of the same path and anchor the outer harbour area in the village landscape.

The Chapel and Harbour History

A royal decree dated 22 May 1906 authorised the construction of Korshamn Chapel. It has 100 seats. The basement contains a fitted kitchen and a smaller meeting room. The date of the decree and the building’s features give the chapel both a historical and a tangible spatial connection.

Korshamn was once on a shipping route used by Dutch and other merchant ships. In old pilot descriptions, the two entrances to Korshamn are listed as the first and second. This historical context complements the path names Havna and Udihavna: together, they point to the importance of the harbour and its entrances, without reducing the village to its present-day coastal setting.

Summer Activities by the Water

Summer tourism in Korshamn includes boat trips, diving and sea fishing. Visitors can also take an RIB sightseeing trip to the Sørlandet Visningssenter fish farm. This trip has a specific sightseeing destination; the other activities listed describe a broader range of summer experiences around the water. This distinguishes a trip with a named destination from the different forms of summer marine tourism.
