Veblungsnes can be explored through several themes: Grytten Church, the history of the old settlement, wool processing and wine. These highlights offer different insights into the town as you plan your trip—from architectural history and textile crafts to tastings.

History of the Church and the Alleys

Grytten Church is built of wood, has an octagonal floor plan and seats 250. Octagonal means that the floor plan has eight sides. The church was designed by S. H. Aspaas. Because it dates from before 1850, it is protected as a historic monument. Its history goes back further: it was first built in Grytten in 1732 and moved to Veblungsnes in 1829. It is located in Veblungsnes, 1.5 km outside Ă…ndalsnes.

A remnant of the old settlement has been preserved along the Alleen, the former main road through Veblungsnes. This makes the town’s history visible beyond a single building: the remains of the settlement along the former road offer another perspective on the town’s past, complementing the church’s architectural history.

Wool Processing and Factory Shop

Rauma Ullvarefabrikk has been spinning Norwegian wool in Veblungsnes since 1927. The factory shop sells yarn and knitting patterns by the Rauma Garn brand, as well as finished garments from Rauma Collection. It also stocks blankets and other home furnishings from Røros Tweed. The selection includes handicraft supplies and original knitting patterns for traditional cardigans.

The range brings together yarn and knitting patterns, ready-made clothing and home textiles. You’ll find a variety of products related to wool and handicrafts in the same shop. If you plan to visit the factory shop, check the opening hours before setting out.

Golf in Natural Surroundings

The Rauma golfbane golf course at Setnesmoen has nine holes and is set in natural surroundings in Veblungsnes. For golf enthusiasts, it offers a different focus from the town’s history, textile crafts and wine experiences.
