In Tennfjord, historic places along the river meet a circular route with views of Grytafjorden. This lets you get to know the area both through its former functions and through the landscape along the route.

History along the Tennfjordelva

The Tennfjordelva and its surroundings lie at the heart of old Tennfjord. It was once a steamboat stop, a transport hub, a school location and a site for assemblies. These different functions give an impression of the role old Tennfjord once played.

Kaffekvernfabrikken is an early factory building dating from around 1900. An old, renovated mill house stands by the Tennfjordelva towards Kvernbakken. The Slyngstadliverkstaden workshop is on Kaivegen: the old red workshop began operating in 1913. At the Kvernbakken farm, you can see the tall monument Tanesteinen.

Circular route and getting around

The circular route in Tennfjord is suitable for walking, running and outings with a stroller. It follows Kaivegen and offers views of Grytafjorden. Along Kaivegen, you pass the old red workshop; views of the fjord and the historical landmarks give the loop a variety of themes.

Local buses stop both in Tennfjord and at Vatne Ungdomsskule, which is outside Tennfjord. Check current bus services before travelling.
