Gluhi Do brings together winemaking, rural landscapes and local history. When choosing where to stay, you can consider these highlights separately: wineries offer different ways to explore wine, a hiking route is described by its length and elevation loss, and the Church of St. Michael connects local tradition with liturgical use. You will also find information about activities in the wider destination of Bar.

Winemaking and Landscape

Gluhi Do was first mentioned in 1371. Abundant water, fertile land and sunny conditions are considered favourable for winemaking. The village lies near the Crmnica Plain and Lake Skadar. Wine and landscape are therefore among the key themes to explore when considering Gluhi Do as a destination.

The Matkovina winery is located in Gluhi Do. Zavjet welcomes guests for visits and guided tours by prior arrangement. Organised tastings take place in a modern wine cellar and should also be arranged in advance.

Đuković Winery is part of a hospitality complex in Gluhi Do that includes rustic apartments overlooking the Crmnica Plain. Visitors can sample local wines there and try gastronomic specialities of the Crmnica region. It is advisable to confirm wine tastings in advance; you should also check availability, visiting arrangements and dining options for your travel dates.

Hiking Route and Trail Conditions

The Buljarica–Presjeka–Gluhi Do route passes through the hamlet of Jasen and then follows a local road through Gluhi Do. The Presjeka–Gluhi Do section is 6 km long and has an elevation loss of 480 m. These details provide useful reference points for planning your hike. One section of the route passes a stream, abandoned pastures and woodland.

A short overgrown section was reported in winter 2024. Check current trail conditions before setting out. The Virpazar–Gluhi Do road is classified as a local road.

Church of St. Michael

According to local tradition, the Church of St. Michael is considered the oldest church in Gluhi Do. This is part of local tradition and is not a confirmed dating. Following restoration, the church is in liturgical use. It is located near the entrance to the Sozina road tunnel.

Two distinct aspects come together at this building: the church’s traditional history and its liturgical use. If you are interested in the cultural character of the village, this combination is a highlight in its own right, alongside winemaking and hiking trails.
