Palanga: Beaches, Museums and Culture
Accommodation in Palanga
Palanga combines white sandy beaches with cultural attractions and outdoor activities. Beaches are among the most visited places; museums, parks and events round out the destination. When choosing where to stay, consider whether you are most interested in the coast, art and history, or the seasonal program.
Beaches, Pier and Parkland
The Palanga Sea Pier is a 470-meter-long structure built on concrete piles in 1998. In the evening, visitors can sit on its benches and watch the sunsets. BirutÄ— Hill rises 21 meters above sea level and offers views of the sea. It is located in BirutÄ— Park, which was created on the site of the former BirutÄ— Forest and BirutÄ— Hill. The park brings landscape and history together.
At Palanga Sculpture Park, you can see 28 sculptures transferred to the Palanga city administration by a Lithuanian art museum. Since the chessboard was renovated in 2020, visitors can also play giant chess outdoors. The sculptures offer a glimpse of a collection in a public space; the chess game provides a different focus and invites visitors to take part in an activity of their own.
Museums, Art and Architecture
The Palanga Amber Museum houses one of the world’s largest collections of amber inclusions and unique amber objects. It has more than 30,000 exhibits in total. Tours are offered in Lithuanian, English and Russian and last about an hour. If you plan to take a tour, check its availability in advance.

Admission to the viewing platform in the church tower is free; access is not permitted during services, weddings and other ceremonies. From the platform, you can see the city panorama and the sea.
