More focuses on remembering the battles of More: the museum, memorial park and cemeteries each cover different aspects of this history. The Safari parks More wildlife park is another distinct point of interest. Two details are especially important for planning: advance registration is required to visit Safari parks More, and the memorial event takes place every year on the last Saturday in September.

Battles and Exhibitions at the Museum

The indoor exhibition at the Mores kauju muzejs covers the battles of More during the Second World War, as well as household and craft items from the 19th and 20th centuries. The open-air exhibition has a different focus: its most notable exhibit is a T-34 tank of the Soviet Army. The outdoor area also includes a German bunker above ground and various items found on the battlefield.

The museum thus presents the events of the war alongside exhibits from everyday and craft life across two centuries. By contrast, military objects and finds dominate the open-air area. This distinction can help you navigate the exhibition themes if you are interested in More’s history.

Memorial Sites and Remembrance

The Mores kauju piemiņas parks was established in the center of More at a former battlefield site. A memorial plaque engraved in granite bears the names of 186 soldiers who fell or went missing in the battles of More.

The LatvieÅ”u leÄ£ionāru brāļu kapi cemetery is located near the Roznēnu ozols oak on the Sigulda–More road in Mores pagasts. It commemorates 117 soldiers who fell in the battles of More between 25 September and 6 October 1944.

Another site is the Red Army military cemetery in More. It is the final resting place of about 2,000 soldiers who fell during the Battle of More. In 1974, the cemetery was landscaped and a monument by sculptor B. Grīsle was erected there. The cemeteries and memorial park each have a different focus: the figures range from named fallen and missing soldiers to an approximate number of soldiers at their final resting place.

A memorial event for fallen soldiers is held every year on the last Saturday in September in Mores pagasts. If you visit More for the occasion, this date provides a specific reference point for planning your trip.

Safari parks More and Planning Your Visit

Safari parks More adds a large wildlife park to the historical attractions. It covers 170 hectares and is home to about 500 red deer, fallow deer and white red deer. Advance registration is required to visit Safari parks More. Bear this in mind if you include the park in your plans.
