Those choosing Othoni as a destination for coast and sea will find a variety of beachscapes and paths to help orient their days on the island. When looking for a hotel on Othoni, it is worth planning your journey first: the island can only be reached by boat from Corfu. You can then decide whether swimming spots, coastal scenery or hikes will be the focus of your trip.

Getting there by boat

The crossing takes about four hours from Corfu Town and around an hour and a half from Agios Stefanos. Both journey times are weather-dependent. Treat these times as approximate guidelines and check the timetable before departure. Allowing some extra time suits the conditions described and helps you avoid planning your journey around a fixed duration.

Coves and swimming spots

Xylosermoi Bay on Othonoi is peaceful and has clear water. At the small, picturesque beach of Fiki, you can take short swimming trips and explore the surroundings. At Aspri Ammos Beach, you can swim and snorkel with a mask; conditions in the water vary.

Kanoula Beach lies below the lighthouse at Cape Kastri. It is a wild cove with rocks, pebbles and natural clay. The coastal locations each offer something different: Xylosermoi is known for its peaceful bay, while Fiki combines short swimming trips with exploring the surroundings. Aspri Ammos is associated with swimming and mask snorkeling.

Lighthouse and trails

Othonoi’s lighthouse stands on Cape Kastri at the eastern end of the island, atop a ten-metre-high stone tower. A hiking trail connects Kastri with Kanoula Beach; you can start in Ammos or Kastri. This gives you two stated starting points when planning your route. Check trail conditions before setting out, as they can vary.

A moderately challenging coastal trail, about one kilometre long, runs near the old quarry. Along the way, you pass Kamares, a natural rock arch formed by the surf, as well as spots with access to swimming. The distance is approximate; trail conditions can also change. The length and difficulty provide a concrete basis for choosing, while the rock arch and swimming access characterize the route.

Culture on Corfu

Corfu Old Town has preserved almost all of its historic urban fabric; its buildings date from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Corfu Old Town and its two fortresses are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Museum of Asian Art in the old town houses more than 11,000 objects from China, Japan, India, the Himalayas and Central Asia. The museum can be reached from Corfu Port by bus line 2 on the Mantouki–Kanoni route. Check the timetable in advance.
